Ok I have been playing this game in closed and now open beta and I have to say I Love it, so much to do so far and it keeps me wanting to log in and play.

The community and GM's have been great with helping and answering my questions, and I am having a blast here.

For so long I have wanted to get away from the fantasy genre of games and now I have found it.

Seems alot of you are not happy though and on some points you are right, you get some lag in towns and some crashes but for me that is rare and I dont even have a high spec pc like some people in other threads claim to have. Since open beta I havent crashed once and the lag in town lasts for around 3 seconds for my machine to render the surroundings much less than when I used to run around bree in Lotro.

The things I like.....

1. I can get a mount from the very beginning unlike 2 mmos I know where you need to be lvl 35 and 40

2. I havent got to stand around for 20 mins at a time to craft I can go and do quests or collect more stuff.

3  I have to think about what im doing and not have all the quests done for me with auto move to quest locations and auto attack

4. The setting is great and its what I think a post apocalyptic world would look like (after fantasy mmo's im sick of green anyway)

5. Combat for me is great I play call of duty and mmo's so in this game I have a little of both

6. I havent got to choose just a couple of crafts like other games I have played I can do them all

I could go on but I wont.

What I will say is that its not a game for everyone and for me its a game I can play and by play I mean see all the game and take it all in NOT rush to max lvl like soooooo many people do and stand around in maxed out gear crying because they are bored and want an update.

To the devs and people who want to play this I am with you 100% and I will see you in game.

For those who are interested please give it a try.

For those who hate it I hope you find what you are looking for, just try not to flame peoples hard work so much, its easy for you to sit and play your games but try making your own see how easy it is to get abuse for your dreams.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I must say it's been a while since I have actually read the quest text but I find myself doing that in FE. For some unknown reason I care to learn the story(ies) of the NPCs. I actually want to hit all of the starting towns and do their quests and I don't feel "rushed" to move on to the next town.

I really would like to see the game do well, but...I like to manage expectations.

    1. Yes you can get a mount at level 1(2 really, but that's nitpicking.) Unlike many games, it's absolutely necessary due to the scope and scale.

    2. While you can queue crafting actions, the time it takes to make some things is a bit excessive. (takes the same amount of time to craft a high end consumable bandage as it does to craft a weapon or armor piece)

    3. Quests are just as simple as any other game. Only a few times did I actually have to read the text and that was for poorly scripted storyline missions.

    4. Post-apoc is the key seller for this game. It does it and does it well.

    5. Many people that have played in both open and closed beta note that combat is very poor. As I've noted in other posts I did the majority of the game just holding down the left mouse button. (amounts to auto-attack for those that havent played)

    6. Yes, anyone that specializes in crafting can make EVERYTHING. To me that's a true downside. In the end what limits a players ability to make things is time and the availability of resources. (higher tier gear requires about 40 minutes to make, sometimes requiring you to craft sub-components pushing crafting time over 2 hours)

Unfortunately in beta many people stayed in Sector 1. It's a great place with lots of quests and lots to do. A few people realized that higher tiers needed testing also and went there. Many who did found that there was nothing there.

I am not flaming or trolling, I am just keeping expectations at a reasonable level. The game is good, but not great. It has flaws, as do many MMOs. In the end I recommend everyone try the Open Beta.

all you mention is features i could care less about those if i wanna play the game or not what matters to me is ONLY how the game feels when you fight and move around is it anything like tabula rasa? a smooth feeling when you walk around and shoot? not some bad attemt at a fps like darkfall where you feel like your lagging or not realy sure what the fuck is going on?

  • phobia21phobia21 Member Posts: 15

    Agreed

When I played Lotro I saw so many people in chat at max lvl wanting more content and saying end game is a joke and that was not to long after launch.

If more people got into the stories and take themselves away from the rush to see whats at the end end end game (note they call it the End) and actualy played the game maybe they would get the moneys worth

Its a game not a race

    Thanks for a decent reply

I 100% agree with the highlighted. Though, I would say, as Raizeen asks above, if you're looking for a FPS moving, "glide and slide" FPS type movement in Quake and all the other FPS games, then you probably won't like it. FE is built, in my opinion, factoring in that Gravity does exist, lol. You aren't a stick in the mud, but there literally is no bunny-hopping going on.

I never played TR but its nice for me to get away from the click a target and click a skill type of game such as lotro and games of that style so just for me its great and im getting along fine with it.

All im saying to the people who read flame posts about new games  is to give it  try it and not to be to put off by other peoples views

Your mind is your own to make up dont let others do it for you

Just wanted to say in my post that im not getting the issues that all the negative posts are saying and that those features are somthing I like

No its no Call of duty granted but its got some of the elements i like more freedom to move and shoot instantly as opposed to waithing for skill inductions like in other mmo's.

like i said its not for everyone.

I answered (at least I thought I did) the FPS question above. And I play CoD 2, 4, MW, and WaW every week. No, It's not like that. No bunny hopping, no slide and glide movement. If anything it feels like I felt when I was actually in the army carrying a 70 lb ruck sack and my M16A2 with a full combat load of ammo.

I was following this game for a long time too, was in cb. I started to find myself getting frustrated with the game. I finally found a starter town where I am getting all of my skills up at an appropriate rate, and I am actually getting a great feel for the game. I tried the Enforcer Camp, and the Traveler Camp, but it looks like I will be starting at Clinton Farm, hope people need a medic :)

This is looking to be my game for a while.. The combat, the world , the setting, the skills... When I first played anarchy online I got that same great feeling that I get from this game or individuality. And this is beyond cosmetics by a mile. Its a great game and I hope it gets the attention it deserves.
