You should check out Earthrise, unless you don't like futuristic games.

Such a bold statement, with this comment your inflated head due to your serious WoW ego is now visible from california, i LOL'd hard at this. To think blizzards new mmo will be a success just because blizzard made it is laughable to me. That's like saying FFXIV will be as good or better then FFXI just because SE made it. You brag about the numbers everyday, you should know what their next mmo has to live up to. Unless it is a full out clone (in every way) as WoW with a few new features, which will probably be "inspired" from other games (i lol'd at that article) then don't expect it to have the same success as WoW.

With that said, i picked FFXIV which i intend to try, bit skeptical from what i've read so far about it, but hoping it's as good as FFXI. SW: The Old Republic should be a good one as well, but chose a different direction in game choice when they announced FFXIV, still might try SWTOR still just to see how it is.

Am i the only one who thinks the WOW fanbois are using the same tactics here that they do in general chat in that game?

  • neoterrarneoterrar Member Posts: 512

I'd really love Earthrise to rock...but I have a feeling it wont

I don't have a doubt that SW:TOR will rock though.

Or do you mean Trade chat....... LOL when I played I turned off most of the chats cuz people were so damn annoying. If I needed to use the trade chat Id have to filter all the bs out along with the other channels. lol

To bad their next mmo will not be able to live up to WoW. They have created a monster that nothing will ever come close to again. WoW had a head start their next MMO wont. Only thing they will have going for them is the name "blizzard" that will sell alot of copies.

Time has made people forget about WoW's rocky launch. Blizzard will get a taste of the rotten fans that they brought to this genre. when their next mmo is not polished and content loaded, all hell will break loose. 1 sever crash and the forums will be ablaze with fail threads. It will be an Epic fanboy vs troll war of the like  that none of us has ever seen before.

The darkfall forum was pretty intense but it will be noting compared to blizzards next MMO. I personally cant wait to see this war, I just hope the internet doesnt implode.

WoW has certainly brought more people to the genre. They won't stay there forever. Most of them are only there because "that's where everyone else is." They don't know about other games, they don't care about other games, and they don't come to sites like this to see what is going on the gaming world.

Agreed, most people just play a game because it's popular and thats where everyone is at, so thats where they wanna be. Or the people who see the advertisement commercials on tv and think "OMG i gotta play WoW because ozzy plays it". Anyone who's seen the osbourne show would know how well he does with technology. I can only imagine the expression on his face if they sat him in front of a computer, told him to turn it on and load up the game lol. Bringing in has been celebrities to advertise your game maybe good for fooling some people, but the smart one's are the one's who know that just because their in the commercial, doesn't actually mean they play the game. I'm sure their are some celebrities who do play (mila kunis, vin diesel, no big deal) but doesn't mean they all do.

    You fail!

WoW and EVE are going to be bigger then both those games in teh next 5 years (and no I dont' like WoW or EVE, but facts are facts)

And the forum only allows 10 options on a poll..

Yes the poll failed, you ask the next new MMO coming out, but WoW and EvE are not coming out, they have been out for many years, so yes your poll failed according to your question.

Get a life you freaking Gamer.....no no, you don't understand, I'm a Gamer, I have many lives!!

Not really, I changed it so more people would understand what I was asking. it is still the same question. Untill a game actually comes out and is play'd through anything the company says is "hype" for instance Fable2 they said "you will be able to watch your char. get older AND if you plant a acorn you can watch the tree grow.

Well as it turns out one is true and one is hype. but before the game came out...it coulda been true....

    Chuck Norris jokes?

I don't believe in preordering or buying MMOs the day they come out anymore. They all release broken, major lag issues, major balance issues so the game is unenjoyable. And oddly enough normally by the time all those issues are fixed they release a free trial so you can play it to see if you like it before paying anyways.

Sadly I think some games hold off on the free trial (WAR held off too long for how it was doing) because they know people who try it free are going to leave and they want to try to get those few dollars extra.

    What tactics?

In WoW when people talk about  Blizzard in general/trade chat they usually complain about an upcoming change or more recently how Blizzard needs to upgrade their instance servers. Those kind of conversations tend to resembe the WoW-haters on these forums but much tamer and not as vicious.

I really despise how people here like to equate anyone who likes WoW as a 'WoW fanboy' as if it is a mortal sin to like the game.  They should just grow up.

A more reasonable explanation is that so many people play WoW because they actually like the game rather than that they have been 'brainwashed' by the Ozzy commercials.  The commercials are cute but I really do not see many people buying the game because "OMG i gotta play WoW because ozzy plays it".  Maybe if it was Hanna Montana or the actors from Twilight I could see it but Ozzy is hardly gonna inspire that kind of blind devotion.

People really have to stop trying to explain WoW's popularity with silly reasons like this.  The fact is that WoW is a good, 'comfortable' game.  For the most part it lets you play on your terms and allows you to be as casual as you want to be.  IT seems to me that people who classify themselves as 'real gamers' and scowl at WoW simply cannot comprehend how attractive that is to a normal person.

The proof is in the Poll - SW:TOR is winning - yet what do we actually know about the game?

Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.
