Theres only 6,800 downloads of the file at this point..
Even though you can't actually play the game yet if it was my games I'd be a little worried about that.
That seems like a real small number so far for a new mmorpg considering its a free download and you'll be able to play in just a few days.. even if they reach a total of say 15-20k downloads up till Jan 1. How many are gonna shell out 50 bucks for the game when theres only that small handfull even downloading a "free" game to play..
Wow,this is great news, better try this one out
Looks intresting when watching the screens, lets just hope it is as good as that
Don't forget they haven't done any marketing or something to attract a lot of people cause they don't need that many people for this open beta. They want to have a nice amount of people to strestest the server and analyse how the game reacts with 5k or more people online (in terms of economics and such).
Off course they also need the gamers' proposals and bug reports but the most intensive beta testing is done with a small group in the closed beta (beta 1.5 was closed and 2.5 will be closed also). After beta 2.0 (ends 31jan) they will go back into heavy development with a closed beta (2.5) and after that there will be an open beta (3.0) again. And I think that in that phase MR will start concentrating about promoting the game and get as many people intrested. Also people should understand in beta 2.0 the game is far from complete and there may be lots of bugs and a lot of testing has to be done...
If you want to have a bugless experience don't judge wish on your beta 2.0 experience
(a little bit off topic and not especially pointed at you )
I shurley think the download count for the next open beta will be much higher.
in the line to try this game out!
can't hardly wait!
This game is a laugh. the first beta looked like some amateur fools put it together with a budget of like $10.00 working on a amiga 500.
if you showed this junk to people who been playing world of warcraft they would laugh their assess off.
Why do companies who have no skills and money try to make mmorpgs.
I know! I think I am going to go try to build a lamborghini in my basement!
YA!
If you can't describe what you are doing as a process, you don't know what you're doing.
And saying that the people of MR are amateurs and have no skill that's just plain stupid. And having staff that comes from ICE (and advanced middleware server app) shurley makes them amateurs . They're all talented people that care about the testers opinions, they read allmost every suggestion that was posted on the forums, and fixed/implemented the most in there last patch. (But HEY you can't know cause you weren't in the closed 1.5 beta). Imo they're the best mmorpg devs.
Inform yourself before posting plain lies! Why dit you come here and break down wish. I feel sorry for your kind of people...
50,000 beta signups is nothin for a mmorpg. Dont you get it? Most of the people who signup to test are kids with no money that want to play a free game. so you can go ahead and cut that 50,000 in half or even less..than go ahead and remove all the duplicate signups. than you have 10-25% left of that of the people who actually care about playing after they see it.. they be lucky if they get the same amount of people playing like in Asheronscall.. so much for "tens of thousands of people" in one world I guess.

LOL did you actually play the game? I doubt it seriously. I was in the first beta and the graphics were just fine for a BETA1 Yes BETA1 I don't really appreciate people judging a game right out of Alpha. Perhaps you don't belong testing games ? Ever think about that? Instead of putting a game down why not give the devs suggestions on how to improve it
You are the one who does not seem to get it. Mutable Realms is shooting for a more tight knit community. Even if there were only 10k subscribers, it will still be great as they are planning on doing only one server that can handle a huge amount of people at launch. Most servers on bigger mmorpgs usually have 2-3k per server. So Wish will be far from empty.
In my opinion they are doing a very smart thing by following this model. Its would be kind of stupid for an unproven game to launch with a bunch of servers. That usually winds up coming back to haunt them like it did with Horizons. Anarchy Online on the other hand only had 2 servers(that had the ability to handle an extra large amount of players) and it enabled them to still be profitable through all there troubles. Now they have gained back alot of media and player respect and have a healthy flow of income. They will never be a top dog, but they are doing just fine.
So your point about Wish is invalid. If you don't like it go play something else troll
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
i dont think your point about 'only kids' want ing in the open beta is not very accurate.
its my belief that people that know the genre of mmorpg's(mostly older people) have this, and dark and light up there at the top of 'hopefuls'. most of the 'kids' got wow for xmass. no knock on wow, its a good game. im playing it :P but i will definatly be taking a little time for wish

So I try to download the wish beta client...
When I try it brings me to a page saying I have to log in (when I'm already CLEARLY logged in).. then if I click the link to log in from that page, it brings me back to download page where if I click the link to download again it brings me back to the sign in page etc. etc. etc.... I've cleared all cookies and temp files and set my browser to allow cookies from both gamespy.com and fileplanet.com...
Anyone else having similar problems/have any suggestions?
Thanks
Can't help you but here's another download location:

Because of the enormous number of beta applications that we have
received (more than 60,000 at the time of this writing), we will not
enable all beta accounts on January 1 at once. Instead, we will only
enable a number of randomly chosen beta accounts every day, starting
January 1.
We require this transition period to better configure our one-world
server. By granting access to the beta test in stages, we can better
allocate resources where they are required.
We will try our best to enable all accounts as quickly as possible. In
any case, if you are not one of the first to be selected, don't worry!
The live content we have prepared for you will allow you to join at
any time.
Please do not send us any inquiries about when your account will be
enabled. We will send you an email notification once your account is
active. The selection is completely random, and no exceptions will be
made.

Guess they're afraid a few thousand people will crash their super servers.
Hey I have an idea! Why don't you just put a CAP on the number of people that can connect.. morons.
Have fun waiting around.
I like how they think 60k is enourmous. haha
If you can't describe what you are doing as a process, you don't know what you're doing.
Do you really think putting a cap on the server is a good solution/user friendly??
You'll have peope try to reconnect all the time, hammering the server down like an ftp server (hey guess, what even a higher server load).
And when people are finally ingame they won't logout anymore cause they don't want to wait again, and when they don't logout, no new people can connect!
Troll!
