Yeah, I think the search function is screwed up. There have been several posts a day sking about open beta. Speculation has been that it would probably be in about 2 weeks, but that rumor is the closest thing to any validation of that speculation. There have been no official posts about it.
i dont mean to be negative, but doesn't anyone think that the open beta period is way too short? Since Aion will be launched in early september, and for open beta to launch perhaps soon...is that a really short open beta? I mean I remember Warrior Epic having this REALLLY REALLLY short open beta and god knows what happened after the game launched, so many problems had came up...

Im agree with everything here other than the sep 18 headstart. Sep 1 or so sounds like a reasonable time table for the ob. But would actually be lucky to see it that early.

I'm just going to wait for the full release. I really don't want to make another character to only have it get deleted again. I'm in total love with the game, but re-going through the starting zones is starting to get a little bit mundayne. My only gripe with the game so far.
Yes..all characters created during closed/open betas are wiped....every game does that. The only characters that will carry over will be the ones in Headstart.

I'm pretty excited to see this game. The only online game i've played was FFXI (5 years) and then a little WoW but I didn't like the game play...maybe because I'm use to playing on Xbox, but that and the "cartoony" look it had. Some random guy hopped on our ventrilo the other night and we got to talking about this game and how he thought it'd the next best thing that's coming. I youtubed it and thought it looks great. Too bad i decided to get my beta version and then registered it two days after it already closed, I was so pumped up too

1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
The game has already launched since last November in Asia. I wouldn't expect anything else but a polished experience.

all beta data will be deleted, head start is 9-20-09 as opposed to 9-22-09, its an early opening of servers for preorder customers to get in 2 days early to get chars rolled named and leveled ahead of the rest of the crowd.

If I remember correctly, Lineage 2 had a 10 day or so open beta just before launch.
Perhaps they'll follow a similar pattern, but I wouldn't expect the open beta period go be very long, people wnat to get busy playing the real thing.

People who pre-order a digital copy of the game get a 3 day head start. So, no, there is no way to keep a beta character.
