today was a great day. first i joined a guild (knights of norrath). then, i hit level 10 and got crusader and a new sexeh sword. then i got into my first actual group today, and all i can say is wow. i had an absolute blast. im used to FFXI where fighting whiled grouped is a pain and has a LOT of downtime. not only that but you HAD to have a 6person party to do well. today in EQ2 i was in a 2-3 man party and we were still getting really good exp with no downtime except when we fought something that was harder than anticipated. i sure hope this is a sign of things to come, because it was really fun (even though I died). so far i have been EXTREMELY impressed with EQ2, deffinitely the best MMO ive ever played.
as of now im a lvl10 Kerran Crusader on Blackburrow.
oh ya, one question i do have. how do i join societies and how do i start crafting things? i have some raw materials but cant figure out how to craft stuff.
thx

I can agree fo one part about your topic.. Everquest 2 is really wow. I'm not a fan of pvp anyways so it's a plus for me. Reaching lvl 10 is actually quite exciting, and grouping is, in my opinion, better then WoW's grouping. WoW's group xp was horrrriiibblle... but i was in beta. I'm hoping it changed. EQ2 is fun, especially playing a fighter class. I love the realism when you do a emote like for example; Brandish . Unfortunetly, I havent joined a guild yet..
Me, I have a Kerra lvl 10 cleric and a Kerra lvl 7 Fighter on texx server
Cant answer your question yet about societies, sorry. But for crafting, look for a forge or of sort, and double click on it you should have a list of the things you can do. If your not sure bout this suggestion, make a new character and talk to the Npc in the downstairs tower, at the main encampement. It would be the same tower mages run to for they're mage beginner quests on the island. He gives u a crafting quest.

On the launch pad (the thing that comes up that downloads the patches etc), there is a link that goes to a great post about crafting. I would go there to learn everything you wanted to know. To get you started though:
Hit the 'L' key and take a look at your skills. If you have 20 in Gathering, Forestry, and mining, you can harvest these things in Antonica. If not you have to harvest in the Peat Bog and Forest Ruins (this all assumes you are in Qeynos of course).
To join a socitety, most of the enterances look like cellar doors with an NPC standing next to them. Just talk to them and they will let you in. The most popular on my server seems to be the one in Willow Woods, not quite sure why it's so popular but it's always crowded. There is a wholesaler down there that will sell you the candles and other fuels you need.
When you get to 10th level you need to pick your first subclass from Craftsman, Outfitter, or Scholar. Once you pick one of these you will need to find your Workshop. The wholesaler in both the society and workshop will sell you the basic recipie books as you level up. The more advanced books are loot drops.
Something I always recommed is always have a task from your artisan Society. They give you resource gather jobs, like gather 15 Iron. Then when you're out and about Doing other quests or whatever and happen to see the resource you need harvest it as you go. It's an easy 12sp.
