Yeah it can run it but you will have to play at the lowest settings.

If you mean 256mb of rdram on your computer then it wont run eq2. You  need at least 512mb of ram to run the game.image

ya, if thats 256megs of RAM then no you can't run it. however, if you meant 256MB video card (ive never heard of a 256MB 9200SE but hey i could be wrong) then you can run it.

I ran EQ2 on my old system which was a 1.6 Ghz, 1 GB ram, and with a GeForce 4 ti 4600 (128 MB). And it actually worked out fine. I have it on one notch above the lowest and did some customizing.

If your looking to play and not very interested in it looking good then YES. You can play it. Heck I have friends with lower systems then the one i just mentioned. It seems the only real important thing is the RAM...you deffently need 1GB for smoother play.

SOE has said that lowend systems can run it, and this is true (because I have seen it). Why ppl go off saying "NO" without seeing are clueless.

True EQ2 is the most demanding game out there, and will most likly stay on top due to its upgradabul engine technology. But you can customize the settings like no tomorrow. There are tons of settings you can set to make it work for you.

IMO yes your system will work out fine (not great to look at but you can still play). But if you 256 mb is the RAM of you computer then u have to upgrade that.

If you have a friend that has the game why not ask him to test it on your computer? That way you will know for sure.

Good luck m8 and have fun.

the only way you would be able to play it on that machine is if you were to up your ram.

but if you're planning to play without upgrading, good luck! Because it won't even let you log in!

Wife's PC running EQ2 with mid level graphics on P3, 1ghz machine (512 RAM, tho) with the radeon 9200 SE.  She seems happy with it (laggy in Freeport, of course).

Why should I bother upgrading it just for a lousy game?

  • DyrttDyrtt Member Posts: 422

Not that you should necesarilly upgrade for EQ2 in particular, but if you want to play many of the newer games coming out as well as some recent releases, you should consider upgrading.

  • SaigonshakesSaigonshakes Member Posts: 937

Hodge, upgrade to 512mb's of RAM. Not just for EQ2, but for your computer in general. EQ2 looks a ton better than L2, so upgrading is to be expected. And if you think it's a lousy game, why the hell are you asking us if you'd be able to play it?

You CAN run EQ2 with that Video Card, Although it Gets laggy sometimes

    I use the Same Card

Radeon 9200 Se, 1 gig of ram, 1.8 ghz,

and it is a bit choppy but sometimes it moves Smooth, I can play on Crushbone Server, and its good. I mean sometimes it slows Down, but then 7 times out of 10 its Fast....

Yes but he CANT run EQ2 with 256mb of ram which is what we've been saying. Card is ok, ram isn't.

oh yeah, i didn't realize that part, But Yeah, 512 is the Min, but if you have a radeon 9200 i would suggest using 1 gig of Ram, will boost the Speed, make it run better

sorry that's too much ram. I don't think the game is good enough for me to upgrade my computer.

  • SaigonshakesSaigonshakes Member Posts: 937

Whether you're playing the game or not I would strongly suggest getting at least 512mb of ram. You are going to be having a hell of time running newer games with 256mb of memory. It's really a pretty cheap upgrade as well. 256mb of ram is going to bog down your performance in just about any newer game.

And for the record, please don't say you don't think a game is good enough without even playing it. It makes you sound foolish.

how am I foolish if I choose not to take part in this treadmill of a game

  • SaigonshakesSaigonshakes Member Posts: 937

I already explained it. You never played yet you somehow know it's lousy? Doesn't make much sense. I think your angry beacuse you can't play it so you've decided to start bashing it. Obviously you had some interest in playing it beacuse you were asking if your computer could run it. Then once you figured out that you couldn't run it you started saying it was "lousy" and a "treadmill game." That sir is why you sound foolish.

EQ2 was made to be future proof. Just because you can't run it doesn't make it bad. Put away the sour grapes and relax.

Hodge is a moron. That said, 256MB(ddr)-ram DOES lets you be able to play it, because i actually got to level 9 while running it on an 256MB-ram system. That makes it 'being able to play' - not?

Would it be justice for holy to conquer evil?

Well, according to Sony, you need a minium of 512 ram to play the game. You might be able to squeeze by, but damn, its going to be a lag fest.

  • SaigonshakesSaigonshakes Member Posts: 937

My friend had 256mb of ram and it said he couldn't play. Maybe you got lucky. Yeah I can't imagine what the game would run like though.

  • hodge12hodge12 Member Posts: 99
    No, the game sucks

  • SaigonshakesSaigonshakes Member Posts: 937

Hodge, leave it alone. We all know why you think "the game sucks". Because you can't run it. It's not SOE's fault you don't have enough ram. Get over it. One last question, just how much time have you played the game to know that it sucks? Oh that's right, you can't run it at all meaning you've never even played it. Nice try though.
