WoW Xpac III

wolf94wolf94 Member Posts: 7

As many of you know, WoW has announced their 3rd Xpac. Do you think that it was a good time to announce it in order to try and stop many people from going to Aion? And will it work? Will people now not buy AIon on opening day because of the WoW Xpac?

Doubtful, the expansion won't be out for a long time, Aion is out in a month. What do you expect people to do, sit around and twiddle their thumbs for a year?

Indeed, is what i read about that new expansion is true they just hit the bottom there. In order to completely and utterly screw the little lore they have left, they came up with a cataclysm thats nothing more than the old world phased out to spare the work.

Now they can add stupid things to the game like the neutral goblins to the horde and such, and blame it on the cataclysm. At least the horde QQ'rs wont QQ anymore for not having their own little gnomes on the bg's....

    GO GO Aion

Yeah, this may be true. But then what about when it comes out. Do you think there will be many former WoW players quitting Aion to go back or will they already have made Aion feel like home for them?

Haha, but maybe a lot of people that have been planing to quit WoW for Aion will change their minds and stick it out until the 3rd Xpac.

what i think blizzard will do around the time of aions release is offer an extensive patch and maybe even more server options ( like classic or adult servers ) . even if theres no expansion pack they will try something to stem the loses to aion . i dont know if anything would work at the moment thought because there are a lot of players that are very unhappy with the game now . whatever happens from now on i dont think there will be anywhere near the player numbers in warcraft that there were when the game peaked last december .  a lot of thats down to the situation in china but i also think they ve declined in the west too . still its a very popular game and will remain so for years to come which is a good thing because it ll be the kindergarten of mmos meaning that it ll be players entry level mmo experiance . hopefully they ll like it enough to move on to the harder and better things that will be out there .

They announced the third xpac in about the same interval they announced the other two. I think it 's announcement was more to do with WOW and it's continued progress in generally pleasing it's player base  and not so much any threat Aion may pose.

i would nt think it ll be this year though . one comes along roughly every two years in wow . i cant see one being ready this winter .

You're right...they announce  WOTLK..or it was at least discovered...about a year and 2-3 months before release.

I would have to agree, especially considering that the expac itself probably won't be out until 2010, I really don't think that announcement was geared toward any threat Blizz may percieve by the launch of Aion.

On another note, does anyone else find this 3rd expac highly unappealing? I mean, I have lost pretty much all interest in WoW over a year ago, I didn't even buy WoTLK until February, so my opinion may be a bit biased. But it just doesn't seem like they did anything to try to reel the parting players like myself back in.  Anyone else feel this way?

i found some of the questing fun in rise of the lichking but it seamed to get very dull from level 76-80 . the endgame was far too easy for the most part and wintersgrasp lagged so badly it simply was nt any fun to play . in general it was nt a very enjoyable experiance . it looks like the new expansion is nt offering a new landmass just revamping the game somewhat . it sounds to me very much like blizzard have realised they ve made huge mistakes and are trying to wipe the slate clean in the form of a paid expansion . given it does nt appear to offer much new content perhaps it will be out this year . who knows .

Blizz could release the Expansion totally unfinished in a month (at the same time like aion), and every wower would worship it.

Nothing interesting PvP wise in Cataclysm so I dont think It gonna harm AION.

Plus it is said to be released in 2010 when AION in about a month.

Yes...I think a lot of it sounds pretty good. Especially the azeroth revamped areas. Worgen...I like this..but play horde...goblins...meh. I like the classes being offered to more races ..and also what appears to be a graphic upgrade...per screen shots.  And the fact that..apparently ...they're attempting to make leveling from 80-85 actually mean something..whatever that entails...I'll definitely buy it...and for right  now...I'm pretty hyped. Meanwhile I can try Champions..and the other offers forthcoming.

For myself (and im sure many others) I'm looking for something fresh and fun. Unfortionately no matter what content WoW brings to the table it isnt going to change that. WoW is still going to be the same old game so it makes no difference to me if they release a xpack after Aions release.

I plan to give Aion a go and stick with it to see what sort of future content they'll offer us. My hope is ncsoft will keep the great content coming. If they do Aion should be around and successfull for many years to come. And if not, theres plenty of other MMOs coming out the next few years :-)

Well, I do feel that way. The only thing that may make me buy the expac and play for a couple of moths is old word nostalgia and curiosity to see what they've done with it.

I don't intend to grind heroics and raids though. I'm done with that.

I will admit, I'm curious about it, and the Worgen race look interesting, at least...but not nearly as interested as I am in what I saw in the Guild Wars 2 trailer.

....no new continents. there are some islands...and new areas..previously unreachable that are opening up. maybe beyond the wall in silverpine...or that one area in tirisfal.

mm i dont believe it will have any effect since its gona be released only next year .blizzard call it an expansion but about at least 50% of the game will be changed destroyed drowned, burned buried etc

so in my view its as close wow2 as you can get without actually being a new game ,add to that the fact that it will be phazed a lot and its safe to assume it wont be ready before september of next year.so games this year wont feel the wow effect too much but next year wow effect on the whole industry will be huge.

wow will be a new game even for 5 years player reroll will be huge.

im very happy for this annoucement .grin
