Hi,
I'm trying to find a good MMORPG with a relatively transnational player base. Unfortunately, many of the games coming out of Korea and North America are region locked.
Does anyone know if DDO will be region locked? Would it be theoretically possible to find a server that includes players from Asia, North America and Europe? (Note: Africa and South America would be awesome as well.) If not DDO, can anyone recommend other games that have a more international player base?
I realize that Eve Online is fairly international, but have never been able to get into it.
Thanks!
Aaron

There are servers for different regions but the US servers seems to have alot of korean and australian players.
Now with DDO:Unlimited coming to the US servers alot of Europeans are moving to the US servers so they will in a way be international servers.
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
If you have a farily good connection (like mine living in Sweden) there is no problem playing on the US servers, as the EU ones are dying a slow death so don´t start there, and besides there are alot of asian and oceanic players on the u.s servers.
Go for it m8 once this go f2p it´s gonna rock your sox if your lucky
This is great news. Finally! A game that doesn't artifically exclude players from other countries.
It doesn't : ). I'm from Poland, and play in the US with ease. Additionally, Turbine added PayPal as a method of payment when you want to buy Turbine Points for any additions. It's not visible in Turbine Account on their page (yet?), but within the game you can proceed with PayPal checkout : ).

The Sarlona server is where you'll find most Asian players (They came over to the US servers after some issues with the company running DDO in china), I'm not sure about other regions.

Since you mention paypal as payment method, I wonder if the Turbine online store is still not allowing European credit cards?
I tried buying DDO from the online turbine store last year (as digital download), but was told they did not accept European customers (I think the legal document from the Turbine lawsuit explains why that was so, and I guess Turbine didn't have a choice).
But I would like to know if it is possible to use a CC now in the turbine store, or if I have to get a paypal account (which I unfortunately can't get).
If you or anyone else has knowledge about this, I would be happy to know more

I have used a swedish credit card in the Turbine store without any problem so there doesnt seem to be any limitations anymore!
