none of those games are demanding whatsoever :P that will be more then enough if you only plan to play crappy graphics games like mmos and 2d/3d games like diablo

I wouldn't recommend buying monitors, keyboards or mice thru thse companys as everything they sell is overpriced to pay for their overhead expenses instead buy them from newegg or tigerdirect. I know WOW and Aion arent to graphically intense, D3 i'm unsure what the specs would be but you'll be fine with a 260 video card. If you dont want to hassle with it for some time i'd recommend a 285 or 295. 1000 pounds you can get one hell of a machine built even with using a mail ordered rig. Best of luck!

I would recommend visiting www.tomshardware.com .  They have nice articles about how to set up various PC configurations depending on what you want to get out of them, as well as advice on what component technologies to look for and how to buy machines that don't have to be updated in a year or two.

Most importantly, if you can handle it, you really can get much more bang for your buck if you build the system yourself instead of the prefab packages from places like Alienware or Dell.  I do my research on tomshardware then hit www.pricewatch.com to compare prices and order individual parts for a greatly reduced overall price.

With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal

You really don't nee to be good with pc's at all to build one. It's much easier than most people think it is these days. Most componants are all compatable with each other. I recommend you spend an hour or two reading up on building a pc, then save a link on your current computer like this one www.buildacomputerguide.com/ to aid you in assembly. You'll get more performance parts, in most cases better warranties, and of course you will save hundreds. If you need help selecting what componants to buy three are already several links in this forum to help you out. Keeping in mind new parts are ALWAYS coming out like the new AMD 3.4Ghz quad core. If you do decide on building you own pc www.newegg.com is one of the best places to buy your parts from and we will be more than happy to help you out with any questions.

I've been looing at www.novatech.co.uk seem to have quite good prices

  • Gweed0Gweed0 Member UncommonPosts: 108

Looks like a decent site. I'm to lazy to do price checks and conversions to see how they compare to the egg though lol. Good find Karahandras!

Building one is quite simple and my suggestions for a good build are click here. Learning to build one will save you alot of money in the long run and you can always ask here for help as you build it. I myself have something close to the mid range setup and it plays anything I throw at it.

    Newegg.com is your best bet.

Have you already figured out a rig yet? If not let me know, I order and build things all day long at the shop. Ill help you decide on something nice and cheap.

    Good Luck!

Hey, ive dropped my budget down abit and im still deciding either to build it myself or get it done at cyberpowerpc, really dont have the time to build one but we shall see. Kinda getting confused with graphics cards, if anyone can help. If i get sli mobo, duno wether to get one nvidia gtx275 and then ive got the option to add another one in the future if i need it or to get two lower nvidia cards now. Or change the mobo and get two ATI's?

  • NickInActionNickInAction Member Posts: 5

There is no real good reason to get two graphics cards. Only reason why people get them is to show off their cases and to get perfect FPS in Crysis and then make a youtube video of it.

You would be fine with this card.

    Graphics Card:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130339

Just make sure you get a Power Supply that will support it. And also a motherboard that has at least one PCI-E/PCI-E 2.0

The E in PCI-E stands for express. So make sure the board you pick, supports it.  If you have a few things picked out, let me know and ill tell you my opinion.

If you read a few minutes of the customer reviews at ibuypower or cyberpowerpc. You will see bad results, I haven't gotten anything from either of them. But I don't hear great things. With the amount of money they want for a rig, you can build twice as much power if you buy your own parts.

I have a 940 build and it runs great... may want to stick with ATI for amd (little bit more puch with the pairing).  that and ATI is a better price

RUN AWAY from xfire and SLI unless you hae a high resolution monitor and want a very toasty room.

Bah to liquid cooling unless you are goign to OC it to 4 gigs :)

For gaming both CPUS are about equal, for editing and other suff i7 is better... but either will be fast

Have you found a site to order your items from? If so, link me all the items you have chosen.  I always went with AMD for gaming, it has never let me down.

And putting a rig together yourself is soooo easy bro. Keep some videos bookmarked and some tutorial sites booked marked as well.  And if you have an IMing program, I'll lend a hand.  Once you do it, you'll never forget. And its quite fun.

Building your own is quite fun, hobby of mine recently. Alot of the guys from work are having me build them pcs and i'm making about 100 bucks or so to do it for them. Win-Win for me lol.

    haha nice!

I remember the first time I wanted a custom rig. I paid a computer shop $200 bucks to put together everything. I don't know if other country's know how much $200 is but you can get a brand new xbox 360 with that much money.  But it was cool because they let me watch them put things together and after I watched them do it. I was like.....that's it? And I watched about an hours worth of video's on youtube with people putting together their own systems. It wasn't long after that I built my first rig.

I do have to admit, looking in a computer case was intimidating. All it is though is a motherboard which needs to be screwed down to the side of the case, ram sticks put in slots with a little bit of pressure applied, and drop of a cpu on its socket followed by pea size of thermal paste and then the clamping down of the heat sink. After that it's plug some cables in and you're ready to go.  And if you have a video card, well it goes in the same way the ram goes in just about.

I'm so excited to help this fella build a new PC I am willing to take apart my current system and rebuild it while my room mate records me. It wouldn't hurt to apply some new thermal paste on the cpu while I'm at it.

zheroine: Do you have an OS(Operating System) picked out yet that you are gonna install? And if you would rather get something for free, I am willing to help you out with that. I remember when I bought XP when it first came out, I haven't paid for an OS since. ;P
