I am looking for a P2P (mostly because of quality, F2P works too) game with a strong emphasis on group play and teamwork. I don't care whether it is more PvP or PvE-centric, but I enjoy a game where being in a good guild helps. The game also should have a high level of polish, and have different features and options, including crafting and a good economy. Games I have already played:
Guild Wars was extremely fun to me, GW2 will probably replace whatever suggestion I take here instantly. I currently don't want to buy any expansions for it but I do own the original game.
World of Warcraft was alright, but not amazing. Problem with WoW was that the amount of time spent to make progress was a bad ratio. Plus, it was addictive and I don't want to ever travel down that path again.
Warhammer was too much scenario grinding for me to really get into.
EVE was just boring, all menus in a rather overcrowded UI.
The game could literally be any type, Sandbox or Theme Park, and it can be PvP OR PvE focused, I just want some good game that I can invest some time in and meet people in.

You might consider Aion.
It's US/EU release is going to be very polished since it has been out in CN/KO for a year or so now. It will be PvP heavy in the end game, but also incorporating a PvPvE scenario to mix things up.
It is not out until Sept 22, so you have some time to read about it and make a well informed decision, rather than an impulse one.
I agree that GW was probably one of my favorite MMOs to date, and I have a feeling Aion is going to hold me over until it is released in 2010/2011 (there is no date, just my guess).
Best of luck
