Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (book 6)

date of release was released around two weeks ago. The book will be in our hands July 16th, 2005.
- 'In a brief statement Friday night, Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge confirmed that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named has returned to this country and is active once more.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince takes up the story of Harry Potter's sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at this point in the midst of the storm of this battle of good and evil.
The author has already said that the Half-Blood Prince is neither Harry nor Voldemort. And most importantly, the opening chapter of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been brewing in J.K. Rowling's mind for 13 years.
Updates from Rowling: 'HBP' fewer than 38 chapters 
"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" author JK Rowling is enjoying finally being able to talk about the next book in her boy-wizard series. "It has been a weighty secret to carry around," she said in updates to her official site. "But finally sharing it with you was wonderful: much more fun than wrapping presents and tidying the house before the family arrives, which is what I am supposed to be doing at the moment."

Don't they all release near July? Anyways, can't wait to get my hands on this book. I remember reading the first book the first day it got shipped into Chapters, when nobody knew about it.

I read the first book the first day too, rathma. I also knew about this a few days ago. J.K posted riddles on her site two days before Christmas. You had to go through the secret door and answer three riddles, after that it told you when the book was going to be released. However, now it is on J.K's main page on the newspaper. The riddles were more fun.
That's good news but a few days old, i am very curious how things will evolve in this one. Just a bit sad that the last book is coming after this one, just hope that it is around 3000 pages (

it pains you and I, the smaller crowd of harry potter appeal have convinced jk rowling to shorten the book
it's only going to be at 38 chapters, (which is bearly 500 pages I'm guessing)
I wish she would make it 3000, I mean...the 5th book only took 6 days to read.

a few days before Christmas they finished filming the underwater scene in the goblet of fire (I think it was the second event...so about 7/8 of the book through)

yea, she's claimed on her website that the 7th book is going to be the last piece of literature she compses...pitty.
That's another reason for her to make them longer! If those kids can't handle long books, then make them not read them!

What r u talking about?????????? The last 1 got 34 or so chapters and it had 700-800 pages! So I think u may wait for a 900-1000 pages! Thats not bad @ all!...

The girl who plays Cho Chang is suppose to be stunningly pretty. That girl is not stunningly pretty.
Oh well, I'll watch the movie anyway... as always. Even if I hate a Harry Potter movie I still buy the DVD and watch it many times.
Back on the topic of the book, Murt, it took you six days to read Order of the Phoenix? It took me one. I was away from home, in Boston, and the book was released at 6 a.m at this bookstore near my hotel (I was really disappointed that this certain bookstore didn't have a midnight party. I would have loved to sit in a Barnes and Nobel at 12 a.m drinking Starbucks coffee and reading Harry Potter). So, I was the second one on line for the store to open (I was out there at 5:15 and there was three 10&under kids with their dad already there. That was a shocker, I assure you). I got the book, got three cups of coffee, went back to my hotel room and camped out the day to read it. It was excellent.
Well...Considering that particular series of books is especially noted as being children's books...

All the Harry Potter books were awesome, each one keeps getting better. The movies totally sucked and ruined the books for other people, but thats just my opinion. Well it looks like Ill have something to read when we take the long drive up to Oregon.

Yea, that cho chang uber beauty intrigued me since the 1st film came out... I really wanted to see what beauty they would pick up.... but now I see it isn't that nice... oh well, who cares

but one day? that's just friggin crazy.
and no, 38 chapters, but short chapters. Really short.
Like I'm guessing just under, or just over 10 pages each. Short.
What I did not take into account with the movie is that after the underwater event, a LOT of action takes place. So we probably won't get the fourth movie till like November (oh, and there's ANOTHER new director)
Personally I think that cuarrez (or whatever, the guy that did the third) was a great director.

I will check it out later today, got to do some studying first but will look at it when i take a break. I thought that the 4th movie was coming out in the summer but i can be wrong.
I can't read this book slowly just wanna read more and more and more and then it is over. (i hate short books). And children don't buy the books it are the parents who do so. She can afford loosing a few children because the book gets to big, but all the rest will take the effort of reading a big book because they are worth it.

Honestly, in a forum discussing the release date of the next Harry Potter series book, why would you make a silly statement like that. The title of this thread does not demand a critical response, positive or negative, so please, just keep that for another thread, or immature flaming and such will spawn and ruin a perfectly good discussion.
