  • Soul Shards are no longer items in the inventory (at last!) but are part of the Warlock UI
  • Soul Shards are not consumed by any Warlock spell other than the empowering ability, Soul Burn

  • Finally. Core features based on being annoying to players should go, IMO. Glad to hear of this change.

Was glad to hear this change at Blizzcon, as well as the hunter change. Should be a very exciting expansion.

Stinks. Management of shards made the class more interesting than most to play. Guess folks who say the game is being dumbed-down are right.

I didn't like the quiver change, either.

  • Yes, having your inventory flooded by annoying shards really made WoW into an advanced form of chess.

Until then they should allow the shards to be stackable.

I found it nothing short of annoying and nothing more than a big waste of time imo. Not sure how the dumbed down comment fits in here either, I mean it never took intelligence to gather shards or use them. Only thing I see is making the game less tedius. But If you are one of the people who liked wasting inventory space on a shard just to use a spell more power to you. To each there own. :p

To what lvl did you play your lock?

There is no "Management" of shards. You kill things to get shards and they dissappear rather fast especially if your destruction and you use Soulfire and Shadowburn.

Dumbed down...youve got to be kidding me.

It's not the inventory space I am refering to. I would be fine with having a separate storage for shards.

Shards are a type of 'reagent' in effect. I like that some spells need certain reagents. It gives a small degree of strategy to using them. I would have preferred if all caster spells required reagents, and the total which could be carried be limited, as it would add strategy to playing those classes. Instead, reagents appear to be heading out of the game, with glyphs reducing the need of some of them (light feathers for 'Slow Fall' for example.

Yes, the game IS being dumbed-down. It's pretty clear from the list of stats that are being removed from the game in the next expansion.

Good news for this Demonology Warlock. Managing shards makes it a real pain if you want to revisit lower level dungeons, where there's no way to get more shards. It will also be nice to have the inventory space freed up. Right now, I have 22 slots filled up with pink. I won't miss having to pack around a Soul Bag.

Game is being stream lined, back to how it was in vanillia wow.. less is more.

In regards to locks, you still need to manage your shards, you get 3 per fight (they come back slowly after you exit combat), so managing 3 shards during a fight is far more strategic than spamming your shard spells because you know you have 40 shards in your bag.

Some usless stats are being removed, Int + spr were basicly the same thing, agi + attackpower were too similar. So they were combined, makes itemisation far easier for the devs and the players.

Making things hard to manage or hard to organise does not make them some how better.

If you like a spreadsheet game go play EvE, dozens of stats and things to keep track of there. (I am not bashing eve)

You're using a different dictionary than I am. Also, Warlocks used shards in vanilla.

3 per fight, but used by only one spell - a general power boost ability. That's it.

    No, they were not.

    Only for rogues and hunters.

Easier, because you don't have to think about them in your build or gear anymore. Don't have to think = dumbed down.

It makes them more challenging and interesting. Next you wil want all bosses to be tank and spank. Of course, Blizzard IS dumbing down instances, so...

You want a game with one stat - power. Then design and balance will be super easy for the devs and you can pick your gear based on looks.

If you need shards to beat mobs too low to give you shards, then you can't play.

Is it whining when you complain about something, or perhaps you never complain about anything?

I didn't realize this was a Cataclysm fanboy forum. I thought it was open to both positive and negative comments.

These are the changes I hate most about the new expansion. Rest of the stuff I quite like.

But since Tigole left no one at Blizzard has any idea what to do with warlocks. They're the red headed step child of WoW and its not coincedence they are the least played class in the game.

Bring back Jeff Kaplan please! Ghostcrawler is to class design as what nuclear bombs were to Hiroshima.

Dont worry about coffee, MMO_Doubter. He's Zorndorf's apprentice in the "We worship Blizzard and everything they do is perfect" fan club. Except the guy doesnt really know much about the game.

Apparently the mmorpg forums, which are  neutral and independent, are only allowed to be used for praise of WoW. Even though there is nowhere that states mmorpg.com is a WoW fansite or supports Blizzard.

But the concept that people can come here and praise the game, or criticize it, is beyond people like coffee.
