Is runescape like the worst mmorpg ever

Runescape seems to be the worst mmorpg in the world. It takes no skill. U just klik. Its also a waste of time and it is borring to mine and cut trees. It is borring no matter wat u do. THe only good thing is that it is free. Can som1 tell me y ppl become members and play, unless they hav nothin better to do.

A LOT of people love it an will almost certainly jump to its defense in this post, so get ready heh.
I don't care for it at all myself, but oh well. It certainly doesn't bother me that they are doing extremely well. No skin off my nose.

How is "worse" defined? AC/DC fans think the Backstreet Boys are the worse band ever. Backstreet boys fans think AC/DC is the worse band ever. But according to Mr. Reality both groups are successful. Thus both are not the worse ever. Going by success:
Asheron's Call 2 is the worse MMORPG ever. It has roughly 6,000 total players online at peak time. And roughly 18,000 total players. AC2 usually has 2,000 players online avarage, in the entire game. Some servers have 400 players on them! And this is a 100% pay to play game, that is 4th generation, state of the art game engine, graphics, etc...!
Compare to Runescape which has 50,000 players online at peak time. And close to 100,000 total players. RS usually has 30,000 players online avarage, in the entire game. Even if one counts only the RS players who pay to play, there are roughly 20,000 total who pay to play. This figure is arrived at due to the fact only Paying players can venture into the newest parts of the RS world. (The RS world has been doubled in size, only Pay to Play players can go into the new part of the world. Though there is easily enough stuff in the old world for free players to be occupied for 6 months to 1 year.)
RS is a NICE game for anyone who wants to play a MMORPG, but has a tight budget (yes, most of us do not live at home, with our parents, rent free LOL!), or an old ancient computer, or waiting for the GeForce 7 to come out before upgrading again. RS is still the best FREE mmorpg out. There are hundreds of actual quests (and they all WORK!), mining, realistic metallurgy, crafting, baking, fishing, and of course exploring, brutal PvPing, and monster killing, and many, many, dungeons. It is not really such a simple game.

Although I do agree that Runescape is an awful game, Can you (or anyone else for that matter) name an MMORPG that does require skill or where you don't 'just klik'?

Ah that is a question pondered. What type of skill should be involved?:
1. The skill of the person at the keyboard? A prime example is in "twitch based" games like Counter-Strike, Unreal Tournament, etc... Where it is the real life skill of the person at the keyboard that determines who wins vs other players, and vs NPCs. He can easily defeat another player - even if they have tons of armor on, better guns/weapons.
2. The skill of the ingame character? The majority of MMORPGs are prime examples of this... like Everquest, Dark Age of Camelot. It does not matter how skillful the eye hand coordination of the person at the keyboard. He will never defeat another player who has a higher level character aka another player who has a more skillful ingame character.
3. Possible hybrid mix? Have a game that involves BOTH the skills of the person at the keyboard and the skills of their ingame character? EvE Online is maybe the best possible example of this.
So what definition of skill are you going by? Heheh.
Considering Runescape - the skill is 100% ingame character. Some would argue that patience is a skill. But even then, someone who has tons of time and patience will take far, far, longer to level up, gain ingame skills, find ingame items, than someone else who plays RS using smarts. Like manipulating the ingame economy to work for them. Finding which items and resources are easiest to get, make the most profit, etc...

Well Runescape was my first RPG ever. I LOVED it, it had so many things to do, the pvp system was fun and you could do ur food, items,... u just have so much to do. And u even have to think to complete the quests, u dont have a menu that tells u "go speak with xXx", "go open xXx cupboard".... imo its a great game, I just got tired of it.
If u ask me, I cant see what games like EQ have more than RS! Graphics? Is that all? Cuz its also just a point and click game. Sure u can say, "oh it has more history, more items... blablabla" but RS has its history! The gameplay is the same! The PvP system is so much better!(I think they an exelent idea here).
So imo, I would rather play this "crapy" free game thatn pay a buck to play something that is known....

The difference between Runescape n all other games? Gfx. Thats it. N if you don understand why it has poor gfx, you must be retarded. Its a browser game. Meaning anyone who has internet connection can play it.
Its not a raceclass based game. Everyone starts at lvl 1, n can decide wat skills they want to train. N if you get bored, you can screw off for 2 years, n kno your char is still there, with exactly the same skill lvls that you left with. Wat other game can you do that? I havent found many.
Also, every time I take a break from that game, I come back n theres either new areas, new quests, new games, or new skills.. Theres new things to do all the time. Unlike major hype games who add an expansion pack every 6 months - 1 year which adds like 2 new zones n a few lame quests that noone wants to do
I will agree with anyone who says the gfx sucks. They do. Everyone knos it. But the other features of the game are great. If you cant see past the gfx to look at the other parts, youre obviously pretty new to gaming
Well not only does the graphics sucks. The sounds, gameplay, and community is just horrible. Do you guys like hearing awful sounds from combat? Heh, the gameplay is not fun either. All you is click on an enemy and then you watch the battle being done for you with the awful sounds coming from the fight.
Community is where Runescape falls. Well I know other MMORPGs have idiots and n00bs. But Runescape is FULL of idiots and n00bs. The way the people act so childish makes me feel like I'm playing with little immature kids.
Runescape is not worth playing, even though it's free. It's a waste of time and I don't recommend you play the game. Well I can't force you people to not play the game, but I'm warning you it's that bad. In fact, the game should be called Run Escape.
I'm sure some people have fun playing this game. Those of you who have low expectations for a game that is. Why do people play it? Free, somewhat Fun, decent gameplay, and good secondary game if you get bored of your main game (happens to me all the time) or your server is down. For a secondary game, being free, I'd have to say its a nice one.

Why do u say the music is bad? Has it less DO-, or RE+ than EQ music? Or maybe it isnt from such a great game? Dude games that r super popular have the crapyest game music... EQ, AO... And I wont speak of WoW and EQ2 cuz I never played them. If u dont like the sound just turn the speakers off...

May I know what u do on the other games? Oh let me guess.... u also clik on the right mouse button to release a skill from 2 in 2 minutes.... Dude just cuz u dont like RS dont come saying its Gameplay is horrible cuz its just like all other games "point, click, point click..". If u find a game that hasnt got this tell me pls.............
I cant speak for the comunity, Ive stopped playing like 1 year ago and I dont remember it beeing a bad comunity with just kids doing crap....
Oh, BTW, have u ever played Runescape for more than1 day? more than a week?....
