the really sad part was there were 2 other people in the car at the same time... sorda like every person ive seen texting on the road.. it really does need to be on the air here.
If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude; greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Wow, that was better than the last two or three Final Destination movies.
I think such an ad would be really effective, but only if subtitled with actual numbers. Most people probably don't know being "distracted" is the leading cause of traffic accidents, and any enacted legislation should be run as well akin to driving drunk or without insurance awareness.
Quite dramatic and bit unrealistic that 3 people would be staring at one cell phone while driving on the wrong side of the road and...multiple people on the road apparently being just as oblivious, but you know, really good ad.
I think its clear what this video is about. Its about the substandard safety regulations in british vehicles. No airbags, only airbags on the driver side, no seatbelt laws, and no center median. Geeze driving in the UK is like a death trap.
Here in Chicago it is illegal to talk on your phone while driving unless you have a hands free thing. I don't think there are any specific laws against texting, but I know cops will pull you over if they even see a phone in your hand.
I don't understand texting. I've actually had a friend text me to tell me to call him........
Ban all use of non-hands free cell phones, computers, etc. while driving.
It won't do anything. Scare tactics don't work with teenagers. If anything they'll want to prove that they can do it and not get hurt.
It might scare parents enough to get a law passed though. Which is good.
It doesn't work with idiots. That is a problem of education, rearing, and class of character that will follow them into old age if they survive that long. When I was a teenager I didn't even need a PSA to inform me of something that should be commonsense. I swear sometimes I wonder how people manage to put their clothes on in the morning, let alone how any of them manage to drive.

People will always find the most incredible of stupid things to do, often at the costs of others. Making laws for everything will not stop this. I wouldn't even believe it to lessen it all that much to be honest.
We, as a world, still serve a little thing called alcohol, at all restaurants and bars. Places of which one must travel to, often in a vehicle. Common sense says, we shouldn't do that as a responsible humanity, but we do. It's enforced, that one shouldn't drink and drive, but people do.
Everything we do is a risk. There is absolutely nothing safe or certain about an automobile. You sit down and strap yourself in on top of gallons of fuel, thousands of parts and tons of metal for the sole purpose of driving over 60mph in traffic with other multi-ton pieces of metal with gasoline. If you sneeze at the wrong time, you can run over somebody and crush their skull.
For the US it'd definitely have to be shorter... ending with her screaming (right before the guy gets out of his car) and then some message about how many people die due to texting in the car. I watched the entire thing though out of curiosity but, yeah, after the crashing stopped the "message" definitely became repetitive (texting causes pain and death and dead friends and dead mums and dads).
It'd also have to be less brutal for the morons over here who'd freak out over the blood and neck snapping, but personally... I think that's what makes it so effective. Really great commercial.
I think its clear what this video is about. Its about the substandard safety regulations in british vehicles Britsh vehicles like most Euro vehicles are heavily regulated. No airbags, only airbags on the driver side Also airbags on passenger side and newer cars also come with side airbags for backseat passengers, no seatbelt laws Lol your joking surely, and no center median. Geeze driving in the UK is like a death trap.
Im guessing you were making some obscure joke here

I like the part where you hear her neck snap.
Got to love the guy who stopped to help. He only goes to check on the ladies - screw the old dude in the other car.

It would have been better if while she was getting put into the helicopter, she asked could they make sure not to forget her celly.
The neck snap was a little too brutal. That will never get on U.S. television.
"TO MICHAEL!"
Man, if that doesnt scare you, nothing will. I sent it to my 16 yr old daughter via myspace. Curious to hear her reaction.

It is what it is.
This is why I fully support hands free voice recognized texting software.
Dun da dun da.

Jesus... I could only watch part of it without sound and squinted eyes. But if it can save one life so be it.
I once saw a guy driving while texting in one hand, and talking on the phone with another.
I mean wtf?
