This game is sick, and Ive been spending everyday checking it out. I was in all the preorder beta's and had a blast.
Any idea on what you tend on doing in game? What your going to try to skill up in (armoursmith, weaponsmith etc..)?
I was reading the news hear and noone has even taken out Balaurs mass ship that flys the abyss, maybe NA will be the first? But I've heard a lot about GM's are the ones who are controling the balaurs could this be true, and lead to why Elyos and Asmodian dare not try to take out the ship? This has been bugging me a little as well, would the elyos and the asmodians end up working together to fend off the balaurs? I'm sure this would never happen, but if it did we would be showing how even the worst enemys do perform alliances over certain curcumstances :P that would surely be a day to never forget either.
POLL Question
Since Aion is all about PvP, heres a pvp question. I want to see how many people will try to kill an oppossing faction while there leveling. Do you have a heart?
Example:
Your Elyos and your attacking one of the Asmodian level 20 towns, people are pissed-angry-cussing at you for not letting them level. Your buddies are having a blast killing all of them, one manages to swing by - do you yell to your partners and run after the guy or do you say nothing and let the fellow level?
Discuss anything Aion, answer my questions too :P!

I am looking forward to Aion and hope to play the OB with my friends when that comes out. I am sure we will kill anyone that is red while leveling, but we won't be camping any towns probably.
If i were in that position unless they start with heavy insults and/or provoking I would let lower levels keep on questing, they are not interfering after all with the pvp.
I have to warn you though, if you and your buddys are high level and decide to go to the lvl 20 leveling zone to kill lowbies, you will suffer from some major debuffs and disadvantages.
The game does NOT condone ganking, and they are implementing some strong measure against it
kill em and kill em all for just being so damn metrosexual.
Bad poll for me. If I'm alone in enemy territory and I see a lowbie doing a quest, if he/she doesn't attack me I will just as soon move on toward a higher lvl area. If he attacks me he is gone. If he he/she follows me then she is gone.
but if they just stay and keep grindng mobs or quest mobs then I don't feel the need to attack them. Your polls give me a one or the other and for me there are too many shades of grey.

I don't play Aion and don't plan to, but my general take on PvP MMORPGs is: "if it's red, it should be dead".
To stress it: I mean PvP MMORPGs, where open world PvP is expected and wanted. In such games, everyone gets ganked. So you either suck it up and become frustrated, or you retaliate and gank everyone you can. I mean what are you waiting for, a "fair" situation?
That would mean:
- you and the opponent are both alone or with the same amount of buddies
- same level
- same equipment
- same connect/lag
- same reaction times
- both agreeing to fighting
- both seeing each other before anyone starts attacking
- noone is fighting a mob or something
- both have full healt and mana and whatnot
- and so on and on and on
Fights in open world PvP are never truly fair. So kill and get killed.

I'll go one higher. If I see one emote, or the person stops doing whatever they were doing so they can sit and stare at me, they're dead. It's supposed to be a war, so that person could be calling in reinforcements to take me out. I kill him, he can't see where I went, I can get away if need be.

I am all about PVP but there are times I wanted to get on a game and just PVE. So honestly I am not a big fan of the run around and kill anyone we want I think you should have the choice to turn PVP on or off depending on what you are doing that day in the game. But I guess we will see how that make it.
I myself can't vote on this. I head a PvP legion, but I can be a kind hearted person to. Now, If they stop, look at me, and go back to doing what they're doing, and are un-guilded, I might consider letting them go, if they run like hell AWAY from where people might be, I might let them go, but in pretty much any other situation, they must die.
One must not allow the enemy to know they're coming, and/or going. I will kill most Asmodians on this assumption because I need to be as stealthy as possible, but I also can't afford to raise my Slayer points too high and screw myself or worse, my whole group.
There's alot that goes into it, but chances are, if you're nearby you're dead. Also, I won't be in low level areas unless we're doing a quest that needs to be done in the opposing factions area and they'll end up dead if they pursue. In areas where people leveling are the same level, chances are I'll kill them anyway cause they'll come back anyway. I like the statement "IF it's red, it's dead."
Too much to think about lol

Well, that's what I mean by "if he follows me". Regardless of me killing him or not, they can still call out my position, so killing them isn't gong to get me any sort of leverage there. If they follow me then of course they need to be dealt with.
however, from what I've seen from the closed beta testing, there is also a lot of apathy out there for invasion. I was in an area (can't remember, early 20's elyos area with the elevator that brings you to outside ground level) and a call for reinforcments came. However, everyone around me was busy doing their own thing. I of course went out even though I was only 22 (and actually killed someone who tried to gank me... yay me!).
but I can easily see players just questing and not really caring if there is an invasion. still, there are now guards around quest npc's in 1.2 (and we will be getting 1.5) so it will be easier for players to do their questing without too much trouble.
I just can't be bothered with killing lowbies if I don't need to. It gets me nothing (and I think there is an abyss point penatly if one kills someone too low?) and I derive no satisfaction from it.

Depends if they are doing anything to make me attack them. LIke if they come up to me or follow me i will kill them without a second thought. If they leave me alone I'll leave them alone
Didn't read you post but I'd say kill him anyways....
I would allow him to run past.
I derive no enjoyment from tormenting other people.
The overwhelming number of people playing PvP games that do derive enjoyment from tormenting players that just want to be left alone is why I will not join PvP games.
This was the one good thing about the scenarios in WAR. If you were in one, you were looking for a fight.

I'm not talking about griefing, or camping, or ganking. What I mean is, if I'm doing my thing, and some low level sees me and doesn't make the effort to at least hide, he's dying. Then I'll go about my business. That's war, and these factions are at war in this game. Anything else would be unrealistic. If I wanted to do that "We're sorta kinda fighting with each other, but only in these areas over here, sometimes, maybe...but everywhere else, we'll hold hands and emote as we watch the sunset" I'd be playing WoW.

Well, I think that's fair. If players from the opposing side expect to be left alone i.e. don't make any effort to at least get out of the area then of course they are fair game. Especially in a game that has such a heavy pvp component.

You guys do realize that you can't see the enemy's level, right?
Everyone will be KOS for me. The only way to guess at someone's level is if they are fighting mobs around a certain level, or by looking at their gear. But since you can put a lower level graphic on high level gear, this isn't always going to be a good way to determine someone's level.
"There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer."
Chicks like the metro thing, but its cool, you have your skill at ganking to relieve the frustrations.
Hopefully most everyone gets this concept so we don't have a high rage-quit rate because people can't level due to some unskilled noobs killing a lowbie who's just trying to level, so that maybe one day he himself can kill you.
On a serious note: The key here is, Hostility should be met forthright and tenfold, those seeking peace should be rewarded in turn.

I doubt I would even waste my time going to a lower level zone that often.
The rift system from my understanding is meant to mix up pve among the equal levelled zones, as in 20s warping to each others' zones to get some non-abyss pvp, since in the abyss they surely will be ganked and griefed by higher levels.
Many games have done this by having level capped arenas and BGs meant to give lower levels some pvp fun that is rewarding and wont be spoiled by massive level differences. Rifts are way cooler than arenas or BGs, and its somewhat unfortunate that they can be exploited by power gamers who have so much free time that they actually devote time to largely unproductive activity to stroke a likely shallow ego.
Kill everyone. In a PvP system the entire world is your enemy. That's a 'fish eat fish' world, either you kill or get killed. I liked the phrase "if it's red, it's dead". And that's the principle of PvP. Save your heart for social services.

Bingo.
This is the way it should be played out. Even if it's me that is getting ganked. If I'm getting ganked over and over again then it's my own dam fault for being hard headed.
That being said they have added a lvl restrictions to the rifts, will have to see how that works out.
