Im looking for a sci-fi game where there is fighting. meeting other players to team up etc. and which you can download and get a free trial so i can test it out before paying. A game with guns or lasers or laser swords muhahahaha ok thanks in advance

Anarchy Online is free
In Anarchy Online you can fight with meelee weapons
In Anarchy Online you can fight with long range weapons/guns
In Anarchy Online you cant fight with light sabers, thank god.
In Anarchy Online is lot of new players at the moment because they just published a free download of it... so attack it!

If you are interested in flying and fighting rather than "walking around" and fighting, I recommend Jumpgate.

game is 100% ship based, with pvp and pve, single server (most online at one time 12k - usualy 7k-10k at any given time), real time skill training, 55 distinct ship with way more variant types. 100's of equipment types that makes the combinations virtualy endless, almost entirely player driven economy, production, combat, research, diplomancy, npc hunting, corp / alliance wars, player pirates, agent missions, exploration and the best of all: astreroid mining!!! :P (sarcasm intended although mining is what i do best)
Try PlanetSide, i think it has a free trial somewhere, somebody else posted about it.

Another game you might look at is vendetta online.
It is a MMORPG set in space, and recreates much of the feel of the old single player space games like elite, X-wing, or decent.

The game is very new however, and as such still evolving, so it can have an unfinished feel to it at times. It does however have a free 8 hour trial that you can just download and play.
