Earthrise as weve seen or heard little lately. In this case little news is better. Fallen Earth is about to come out and we've seen mixed reviews on it at best.
Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR. Playing EVE Online and AOC. Wtg for SW:TOR and WOD
I played FE in beta and it was horrible. I hope Earthrise is better. From the screenshots it seems the graphics are superior anyway. I feared the worst for FE from the screens I'd seen. They looked shabby and were an indication of what the whole game is like, I'm afraid.

I also was a closed beta tester for Fallen Earth and I'm afraid I have to agree with Mahlo. On paper Fallen Earth is pretty much my ideal sandbox MMO, but in reality the game is pretty bad. The main problem with the game is its utterly terrible performance. The game basically runs like crap and it has no reason to when the graphics are far from state of the art.
My system is by no means bleeding edge, but it isn't too shaby either and yet the lag and disconnects that I suffered during beta made the game unplayable and untestable. I started beta in mid-Feb and I had uninstalled the game by the end of May, it was just far too frustrating to try and test the game properly. I sincerely hope that the dev team can sort out the problems with this game as I do really like all its features and gameplay. If not then we just have to hope that Earthrise is in a much better state than Fallen Earth.
These are my system specs for reference:
Abit AB9 Mobo
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16 GHz
Asus GTX 260 896Mb
4 Gb Kingston DDR2 800 MHz RAM
Windows XP Pro 32
and I have a 19 inch widescreen TFT @ 1440 X 900 resolution.
MMORPG History: Playing - EVE Online. Played (Retired) - AO, SWG, MxO, WoW, RFO, SoR, CoX, EQ2, GW, L2, Vanguard, LotRO, AoC, TCoS, Aion. Favourite MMO - Pre-CU SWG, 3 Years, 4 Accounts, 2 Pre-CU Jedi (1 Pre-9). Awaiting - Star Wars: The Old Republic, The Secret World, Earthrise.
Considering they are letting everyone into open beta, try FE for yourself. Preformance issues are there but they weren't that bad for me. I just wasn't that interested in a PVP endgame (earthrise is also).

what kind of performance issue is that? is it laggy, busy, cant connect or what?
Have to agree with the posts above that Fallen Earth is quite disappointing. The concepts making up the gameplay are good (maybe except how it envisions PVP), but the implementation all around is just underwhelming.
On the other hand, we haven't played Earthrise at all, so comparing them would be like comparing somebody to his cousin's unborn son.
So far the two games seem to have a pretty different approach. ER looks like it will focus very heavily on PvP, while FE restricts PvP to zones and seems to focus more on a single-player story, at least early on. ER has much more sci-fi and advanced tech in it than FE. Honestly, I think the games appeal to completely different kinds of players, which is as it should be.
The biggest issue so far with FE is definitely the graphics lag, which hopefully will be improved once they recompile it for optimization/release. As for the graphics quality... well. It may not be top notch (the animations are particularly shoddy) but it's definitely not the worst I've seen. I don't know if I'll be picking this one up right away but once they work out some of the kinks I think I'll definitely take it for a spin.
The only difference between the two is that people have played one while the other one is purely dreamed up marketing hype. Which one do you think is going to sound better?
Thanks for your input. I guess that I will have to buy both games whenever they get released.
Some people had performance issues, but I tend to wonder how many of those people were running FE windowed and had all kinds of other programs running along with the game. My computer has a slower processor (6600 Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz), older graphics card (eVGA 9600 GT 512mb), 4 GB DDR2 800mhz RAM, Vista 32, 22" monitor @1680 x 1050 and it ran the game just fine. I didn't have the performance issues that made the game unplayable.
I've pre-ordered it and have several (around 6) friends who are doing the same.
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."

Fallen Earth's performance is pretty bad near towns for a lot of people. Outside of the cities performance was pretty good.
---
If your primary concern is post-apoc I think Fallen Earth hits the genre better. It's very Mad Max, Boy and his Dog, etc.
Earthrise is more Sci-Fi than post-apoc, at least IMO.
---
If your main goal is to craft and RP in a post-apoc world, I think Fallen Earth is for you.
Neither Project V13 by interplay they ones who came up with Apcalyptic games in the first play.
Project V13 picks up as a mmo where Fallout 3 left off.
They will be using some of the system from Earthrise so thats the closest to Project V13.

How is the world in the game then?
Interesting or uninteresting?
I'm much more into exploring than fighting in my MMORPGs.
Why don't you just try it and see for yourself?
