Its also going to be a console game, I would hope that like SE has described ,number keys and the enter button are probably not going to be the only options.

i remember playing ffxi on my pc and thinking, "hey i haven't  touched the mouse in 3 hours!" it was an awesome feeling and ffxi is the only mmo i've seen to have controls as immersive and comfortable as that. from the looks of that gameplay video that was posted earlier, i think the ffxvi will use the same system. also, in the interview they said they would be utilizing the macro system again, so that's a plus in my book.

additionally, i skimmed some references to WoW. if anything gets away from WoW, it's final fantasy. ffxi came out before WoW did. the aesthetics and gameplay were conceptualized before WoW even existed. ffxvi will obviously draw more influence from its predecessor than from WoW, so let's forget WoW for a while and enjoy this. ^_^

It just depends on the person, i'm 5' 11" and have average hands and the Xbox controller works better for me then the PS3 controller (yes I've play'd on both for a long long time)

And after about a hour my hand cramps up because the PS3 controller is to small, the xbox is just right for me.

leave it at that. everyone has somthing they like diffrently,

But to be honest whether its PC, PS3, or xbox360 i'll be using a keyboard. it was way faster in FFXI and I betcha it'll be the same in FFXIV.

I'm sure its already been said but.

100% confirmation that FFXIV will be availaible on PS3 and PC, possibly XBOX 360 in the future.

100% confirmation that PS3 and PC players will play together.

    Cursor? Buttons?

Do we forget that FFXI had a cursor? Yes in the gameplay footage whoever is playing IS targeting with the cursor, however you can target with the cursor in FFXI as well or use TAB

Do we forget FFXI had Macro Buttons?  Yes they were hidden until you press ALT or CTRL, but they were there.

Anyway I just hope FFXI will supprt my Wireless Keypad.

Edit: Might I add WoW is NOT the only game with bars of buttons visible on screen.  Having Buttons on your UI does NOT equate to WoW.  Nearly every MMO I've played ( and trust me the list is large) Has had hotkey/macro buttons on the UI.  FFXI is actually an exception where the keys were hidden most of the time.

    So.. uhm.. GET OVER IT?

IMO the buttons setup is a copy of WOWs setup much of the time. And why would u tell me to get over it. Its my opinion and I was expressing it. As you expressed yours, don't come on the thread and just decide you are going to tell someone to shut up. The reasons we have a forum is to DISCUSS topics, not be told to shut up and get over something. My thread was not hurting anyone, so don't  act as if your opinion is better then mine and tell me to stop talking.

Well to be honest I never said "shut up".

But the truth of the matter is I see a lot of people.. I don't want to say "crying" or "whining" but complaining about something sort of miniscule, considering most MMO's have hotkey bars.   Most hotkey bars are not a copy of WoW, as many MMos have existed long before WoW rolled around.  Actually the hotkey bars I saw in the video looked very similar to the same ones in FFXI just placed differently, if they truely mimiced wow's set up you'd see a bunch of other scrolly design crap wrapped around the bars.

The point to saying, "get over it" is that you're either going to let something as cosmetic and (ultimately) non-important as hotkey bars ruin your experience of the game or you're going to "get over it" and learn to live with it. I honestly believe very few people would not buy FFXIV because they have to look at Hotkey bars, but if they do I'm sorry but I'll laugh at them because I think it's a stupid reason.

Problem is everyone is so familiar with WoW that they think anything that WoW has is "bad". Even it it's not something that WoW has set the standard for, and even thing that existed in gaming long before WoW was even thought of.  So in return I say get over it. Meaning get over the mentality that WoW is inherently bad and thus the originator of all UI design.  Which as a side note many systems and features in WoW are actually ingenius.  WoW the game is not bad, at least not in design. it's the player base that causes the woe and grief.

Either way, I'm going to say I appolgize that you feel I was telling you to shut up, that wasn't exactly the point I was trying to convey.

It may as well have been. But we will agree to disagree.

Though I am trying hard to think of the hotkeys in FF11 UI, everything I remember pops in and out , like the menu and macros
