Is it possible they are planning to charge for respecs?

Respecing in this game is different then in COH though, You can't totally switch powers groups just which powers you picked in your skill sets.. In this game you would be able to go from a ranged DPS to a melee tank, so they need to be careful with there respecs.

Personally if they're wanting to keep up with WoW in terms of service they'd like give you a free respec if things are changed that deeply but charge you cash if you want to casually respec like WoW is doing with their changing factions option.  Its really no different...."Oh this month this faction is popular I think I"ll switch".

No, they are currently consistent with WoW in this regard. In WoW, if you level a shaman to 70 and they nerf your base skills you are screwed. You just reroll. People do this all the time

Sa,e with EVE. People invest years into their avatar and things get nerfed all the time.

    Er no.

Lets not compare this companies history of nerfing to Eve and WoW, lets compare it to SWG.

Last time these people nerfed me, I never played the game again. This time round I fully intend to stop playing before they get the chance.

In my opinion this leveling up system is pretty experimentla and the chances to make a completely borko build are very high. A good respec system is much needed with this method.

Are they going to be charging money for respecs? Why would I not be surprised.

I suspect if they are charging for a respec, it will be for the full respec. The ability to change your starter class. Specifically the initial 2 powers that you cannot change using the respec in the powerhouse.

Up until the last few days of Open Beta, you could "Undo" skills/talents etc... in the reverse order in which you purchased them, all the way back to your power building power. The cost was higher the further back you went, but I had plenty of money, at level 10ish, to do a number of full respecs until I found a power set I liked.

Near the end of OB, they set a limit on how far you could go back to 10 steps. Remember, this includes talents that boost your stats, improvements to powers, etc..., not just the powers themselves. During the last day or two that the servers remained open, (after the OB event had officially ended), they also greatly increased the cost, so that at level 10, even though I could have done a complete re-spec with in the ten undo limit, I couldn't afford to even undo my last five, let alone do a few full respec.

There is also a greyed out option for a full respec.

So, it does seem likely this will be something they will charge for. I assume there may be some way to earn a full respec in game, but I think the idea that they may sell respec tokens in the cash shop seems realistic.

Frick.  I'm in the head start right now.  The respec costs are far too high.  I have a grand total of 3 silver at level 8.  The first respec costs 12 silver.  If I wanted to respec down to my energy starter, it would cost me over 100 silver.  The costs keep going up with each level...I highly doubt we'll be able to afford to respec more than one or two skills with quest money.

I can't change my innate talent which gives me 24 useless stat points.  That's going to bother me.

Oh well.  I guess my first character can't be optimized until full respecs are available.  I'll have to transfer money to any alts to pay for their respecs.

EDIT: Ah, they changed custom framework since I last tried it.  Reroll #1, heh.

Judging by the official forums, this issue is going to run and run...
