Looking For A PVP MMO

So recently, a large group of my friends and I (we're forming a guild) have decided that WOW isn't cutting it anymore. We're looking for a new game that promises good group/guild pvp that is either ranked or socially competitive. We're looking for a newer game. The games we're looking at are EVE, Darkfall, Crimecraft, and Mortal Online.
Blizzard uses WOW to harvest hours played into bottles so that the dev team can remain immortal

EVE is great for FFA PvP, Darkfall isn't a good choice. You'll hear that game is either good or bad (I have no experience with it) but just by looking at it I can tell you it doesn't look very impressive. Crimecraft fails, don't bother with it. Mortal Online has quite some time before Open Beta is released so that's not really a good choice. I'd suggest toughing it out for Aion which is seemingly going to be built around PvP, or just head on over to EVE and if you have the patience, you'll get some good satisfying PvP out of it.

I'd reccomend giving AoC a try. I play it mainly for the PvP side of it, and enjoy it immensly.

EvE is a good choice, if you like that sort of thing.
Watch some videos of Darkfall before you decide to go there, if you still want to play it after watching the videos then it may be a good choice.
Crimecraft is a horrible game, don't go near it.
MO is still too far out and is still in early beta. So I can't give my opinion on that yet, but it won't be released for quite a while.
For a more traditional and soon to be released MMO game I would have to recommend Aion.

One point to note for PVP in EVE.
If you get blown up, you lost everything on your fittings and cargo, unless your friends manage to scoop up the remains for you.
Losing is a big deal in EVE, which in turn makes winning sweet.
There is only Darkfall if you really want PvP. And that is not a opinion, its fact.
No other MMO will give you FFAPvP, full loot, mounted combat, sieging, naval combat, city building, real tilme combat system, manual aiming, skill based, sandbox gameplay, guild vs guild, aliance vs aliance, massive battles, and all this in the same time : )
Dont even try and listen to people that havent tryed it. Think Darkfall as a PvP based Pre-CU SWG (my old MMO).
And now they will finally remove the carebear universal banking system, and only have local banks. So now caravans with traders will move over the world and the sea. Pirates and raders will try and get them.....so they will need a lot of protection.
Then we will also get the player own vendors as we need : )
So please, try and find a PvP MMO that can beat that.
And before the trolls flame this. YES, there is the same grind in DF as in every other MMO. But its not as bad as in WoW. You can kill of a "highlevel" character the first day of playing..if you nare smart enough.

EVE is a mindblowingly good game. Incredible complexity and depth.
I have to warn you though that the learning curve is brutal and you need to check your previous assumptions about MMOs at the door.
Darkfall for pure fantasy PvP, EvE for sci fi.
AoC, Warhammer are more middle of the road PVE and PvP
AION will also be a solid choice when released

nano if your friend ares patient and steady ,go eve ,its very involved but its a great game
Since you have a group of people coming to play with you, I would say EVE would be a great choice for you guys. The group dynamic will be great if you guys like cooperation. Just keep in mind that you will need to count on each other a lot, and it will not be easy. You'll have to learn a lot, but the fact that you have a group of people will certainly make the process easier.
Eve out of your choices is the best one. Never tried DF or MO so thats up to you. Crimecraft on the other hand, don't do it. If you don't like any of these games after trying them wait for Global Agenda, trust me.
