Why I'll pick Champions over Aion

For the same reason I picked “City of” over WoW for 5 years.

Character customization is the number one most important thing for me in an RPG be it MMO or otherwise is. And I'm not talking about customization with equipment you find. I'm talking out of the box customization potential, skills and appearance (But skill diversification being the most important).

And looking at the list Aion classes almost put me to sleep they were so boring and typical.

And once again, just like WoW I won't be going with the crowd. But that's ok. Some people still appreciate character diversification and I'm glad to see it's alive and well in Champions.

As I respect your decision, and I love how you can make your character.... You. In City of and Champions, I Stille prefer the customization in Aion, Seeing that it is more user friendly and easier for beginners. I would suggest The Super Hero games if there is a time where someone has done everything. That is where City of and Champions Comes out on top, There are random events that are supposed to happen at diffrent times to keep the game diffrent and fun. The only thing that I dislike about Champions online is the lack of Open Pvp outside of Arenas.

Aion has its +/-'s but still I prefer it due to its Beutiful Landscapes and its vast Large Contenants. In Games I love to explore and find hidden things. That is why I loved AoC even though the Game went into a Sudden Halt at level 40. That is Why I loved Wow, Aion, Everquest, And so many other games.

I respect your choice and I would do the same thing if I did not love Exploring.

Thanks for reading this and Good Luck in your gaming.

Going with Aion just because CoH, CoV and I am sure champions will have same retarded mission system. Enter this building and kill everyone, and I have had times being sent to same building 3-4 times in a row. Story and Lore is more important to me then ability to customize my character. Just my opinion

Sadly It will be. It's a good game, it's fun, but it's a bit too repetative.

If CO wasn't subscription based, I'd probably play it, just for a quick romp & stomp. It's fun for jumping in, doing a few missions, and then logging off. For a main MMO, it just doesn't hold up enough for me. The community missions (similar to WAR's PQs) are kool and all, but they don't help the repativity, and they don't function quite as well with the instancing.

cool, hope you enjoy your game :) im not really big on the whole super hero mmo thing myself, COH was fun for a while

Missions are the same as WoW in CO.

I'll be playing Aion myself.  There's great character customization and the classes play very well.

I just can't get into the superhero/comic book thing.... it just seems too grade school.

I can understand it the choice; I've spent more time playing with the Champions Online character generator than I have in the actual game. We're in the headstart now and I'm still farting around trying to make my guy look perfect.

It's a freaky thing; you'd think that there would be a commonality with lots of people making characters along a certain theme but so far I've seen such an unbelivable degree of variety and creativity with the character models I've come across in game.

It's also nice to have absolute freedom with choosing your character name, though that does lead to some really cringeworthy heroes. Couple hours ago I ran across "the super spider bat dude killer"

Character customization is important but hardly the most important thing in an MMO... I can't help but laugh a little that you are picking CO because of the way you customize your character... have fun with that 5 months from now...

Now, if it was also the gameplay, story, style, ect I would understand but playing MMO just because of how you can customize your character is pretty silly. You make it sound like you rather play a crappy game so long as you can customize.

To each their own I guess... Keep talking about CO character creation system.. because that's really the only thing it has going for it.

This is why I chose CO. For me its more fun to play MMO that I don't need to play all the time to be good at. Like WoW and similar games, you have to grind for the best equips for long time, and I hate those kind of things. I also like the way you make your own character rather than choose from different classes.

IM goin with CO, good game. From what I read so far Aion is  a WoW clone with Anime chars, not sure how true that is, So Im goin to try Aion the next beta I can get into. Already have CO, might as well try Aion.

I have the time to play 2 games, after the dry times in the past years of good MMO games, now it seems there maybe more than one for me. Good times!

    Both are pretty piss poor.

I think a lot of people will continue to wait for something worth paying for,

Eh...I played both games and found Aion to be a lot more entertaining than CO. I may try out CO down the road once they've had time to work some things out over the next few months. I did enjoy CO though - jut enjoyed Aion more. To each their own I suppose. Truthfully, compared to some other titles that have come out lately I don't think either of these is going to dissappoint long as you understand what their focus is before you play the game.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

I had more fun in Champions than I did Aion. If I do decide to play anything I'll be htting up Champions at some point unti Guild Wars 2 and The Old Republic.

I assume you don't mean visual customization, because that seems to differ only between sexes.  With Aion You're either going to be a 140 lb asian man with armor and wings or a 100 lb asian woman with armor and wings.  Am I missing something?

I keep seeing a lot of glow in the dark neon avenger type screenshots from CO... I was gonna give it a shot sometime but with all the glowy pastel goodness I'll think I'll pass.  It's the players creating this stuff but I don't want to look at "tacky" for hours at a time lol  I'm looking forward to DC online and hoping they try to build a stylized game that isn't so  ..  ..  ewwwww.  I'd love a heroes game with  serious detail and less gloss over.

Guess I'll pick the minority vote then.

I'll be playing both of these games!

Aion and CO both cater to different aspects of gaming and it would be hard to compare them. Although they both have amazing visuals and customization, they are just so different. Aion offers better gameplay options as you prgress and a far deeper character/item system. In CO, skill based system makes the experience more unique and is extremely fun in the beggining.

They are sort of opposites to me, but both of them are too extravagant to let down.
