I prefer champions online as well..ben playing and having a blast past coupel of weeks. Is it me or Asian games (such as Aion)the men always look very..hmm how should I put this..."feminine".
My son and I will be going with Aion looking towards the PVP it provides, and character customization just isn't on my list of things I value in a game. (I usually just press the random button until the avatar looks sort of cool, change the hair color if necessary and off I go.

Haha you can easily make 100 different characters in Aion that look more rugged and manly than most MMO's on the market, and they don't look the least bit asian. You obviously haven't played with the char creator like most of the people stereotyping in this thread. That's fine if you want to play a shallow excuse for an MMO, but don't stereotype and talk about things that you are clueless about.

then you go out in the world and it's all white and purple how feminine lol
I'll pick neither, since both don't really appeal to me. But if I'd pick one it would be the champion thing. It just looks more refreshing and I read so much bad stuff about aion... not sure if it's true (ie only two starting zones, no point to replay a class because there is no real way to customize them in the end, only one gathering skill that doesnt make any sense, generic characters that look like taken from any generic anime, no swimming but just walking on the seabed etcetc).
I don't know a lot about both games but I don't need to because beeing a consumer I don't have to be able to write essays about each and every product. I just pick up what I read here and there and make my opinion based on that.

Obviously ProfRed stopped playing War now...
Wonder when he will stop playing Aion...
Some will never learn.
And then you put the same stylized armor, including a helmet on them and they all look the same...
I will definitely buy Champions Online. It is a perfect secondary or tertiary game. When I want to devote some time I have other mmos like AOC...LOTRO or WOW. I doubt that any mmo will perfectly satisfy everyone...so why limit yourself to finding THE LAST WORD in MMOs...

Picking up what you read here and going with it is a bad game plan imo. Most games are all a matter of play style / taste so the only real way to judge a game is to play it yourself I think.
Even Darkfall has fans, whether most hate the game or not.
Lots of the animations feel clunky. The UI is very bizzare.
for example I was lifting up cars at the tutorial area (fileplanet "beta") and a bar would fill up as you were lifting
If the object was too heavy to lift it would still try, it would start filing up the bar, but after about 10 seconds, the bar would disappear; no error message would show; and your character would finish the lifting animation (lifting nothing) and then you would be standing there with the car still on the group wondering.
I tried it like 5 times before I realized it wasn't a bug that I couldn't life it.
after 6 or so years, I had to change it a little...

So just buy everything and try them all?

I'll be playing Aion. I prefer bug - free, well optimized game / graphics engine, and an immersive world with real PVP and real PVE endgame rather than them both being tacked onto a single player game and called an MMO like CO.
Customization is very important to me, too, but in order to like CO, I'd have to consider it more important than everything else combined. It's just about all CO has going for it.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

Yeah Zorny that personal attack had something to do with this conversation...
I have played almost every MMO out there for at least a month, and i've gotten my 50$ worth out of every single one of them. I truly love this genre and want to give every game a good shot if the developers are really passionate about expanding it. If you want to tell me i'm stupid for doing so I will just respond with the fact that at least i'm experiencing what's out there and not playing the same rehashed crap wrapped up in a pretty rainbow package for my entire life endlessly trolling all forums claiming it's excellence.
I post on whatever game i'm playings forums and I defend it from over the top trolls like you. Right now i'm playing Darkfall, EVE, and I will be playing Aion for who knows.. probably 1-6 months. You see the difference between you and me is a game is a game to me and I like to enjoy them for a while and if they become boring I quit. It's not my life like WoW is to you. If a game I like goes in a direction that I don't like I will drop it and move on.
You can claim WAR, but i've been doing the same thing since EQ, FFXI, SWG, DAoC, and many more.
For the same reason I picked “City of” over WoW for 5 years. Character customization is the number one most important thing for me in an RPG be it MMO or otherwise is. And I'm not talking about customization with equipment you find. I'm talking out of the box customization potential, skills and appearance (But skill diversification being the most important). And looking at the list Aion classes almost put me to sleep they were so boring and typical. And once again, just like WoW I won't be going with the crowd. But that's ok. Some people still appreciate character diversification and I'm glad to see it's alive and well in Champions.
Telling everyone you're a niche gamer doesn't really help out much over the argument you made in your title.....=/

You just destroyed my world, lol. HOW CAN YOU DO THAT!
OMG... I am a customization neurotic! I guess I spent 3-4 hours on my CO main lol.
This is so... wrong! o.0
EDIT: I think Aion is more complete. CO missions just fell all sameish and CO definitely needs some 4-6 months more to be good. I wait until then.

all you do in aion is sit and stare because fighting mobs is so sloooow

They both have big downsides to them that will likely keep me away.
CO has the RMT and all the shenanigans Cryptic has been practicing.
Aion has Game Guard, end game grind, and half-hearted approach to PvP.

Why this thread is completely pointless and only serves to stir up shit.
You could not have picked two more completely different games without comparing Champions to Eve...

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
No matter how much time you put into customizing your character in champions online the game still sucks so whats the point?

I'm playing both because they both offer different things and they're both great games.
Champions Onlines uses Instances like AOC does. It lacks some polish but it does provide the feeling of being in some Comicbook from the 40ies.
