So I'm looking for an MMO to pass the time while waiting for another MMO or two that's in the works that I'm looking forward to. I was thinking of giving Champions Online a shot, but I was too hesitant to pre-order especially with the $50 price tag. So far, I am still very much on the fence about buying it. I have a question for those from the CO Beta and the early start players that maybe you could answer. Is the questing in CO as repetitive as in COH/COV? I've been trying to find out what the questing system is like and I haven't been able to find much information about it.

It's not at all like CoX.
It's actually very similar to most other MMO's. Collect this, kill that, etc. Sometimes they switch the environment up though and you have to zone into a building and in one case I actually had to go down some type of manhole into a toxic river where I was swimming around picking up toxic barrels and killing piranhas etc. One of the coolest missions I did actually involved a similar environment to Anchorman (Saving Rob Mahogany and the rest of the crew. =P) and it was quite humorous.
I personally love this game and especially the missions. Not sure if this answered your question, if not I could repost and make it more clear.
Well, It's an MMO and the questing is not particularly outstanding. But it is imho better than CoX in that ou get to play more in outdoor areas with a nice spread of quest-types. THis was one of the first games in a while where I enjoyed questing, because there were some quests here in there that spiced things up a little. Also, the combat is more fun than in many other games. Haven't decided yet whether or not to get it, but if I should then I would certainly get a xbox-like controller as well - playing with mouse and keyboard feels a little unnatural with this game.
Yes, that's exactly the kind of info I was looking for. I was hoping that it might be more 'get out and kill this thing, then go and collect that thing' than the more generic 'robbing a bank/prevent a bank from being robbed' system they have in place in that other game. Thanks a ton for that, this answered my question and then some.
Was this sarcasm?
You called robbing a bank "generic". I've robbed a bank in maybe 3 games ever. (and I'm not sure about the other two.)
You seemed relieved to go out and kill things. I've done this in 600+ games.

No, it wasn't sarcasm, and I'm not saying that robbing a bank in a game is generic. I'm just saying that robbing the same bank a hundred times is repetitive and I lose interest in that kind of thing rather quickly. It's just personal preference that I don't care for it. Some people may enjoy it, but it's just not for me, that's all.
How about the PVP ? Is it better than in CoX with better rewards (or at least a more sense of fun) i've seen that it was a little like WAR with a way to queue up for pvp anywhere in the world ? That was really a super good feature of WAR and was a lot of fun, so was wondering if it was as good.
Also, it seems that a lot of classes have the same powers than in CoX ? (mostly hand to hand classes) Have the powers been tweaked as well ? Or on a more large panel than CoX ?
I'm sorry to not have followed this game more, i was really caught up in RL, work making me change continents 4 times in the last quarter so i missed the OB (rats !).
You're a Hardcore Survivor!
You not only survived the zombie apocalypse, but did it with style! Your mastery of zombie knowledge, survival tactics, and weaponry is nearly unmatched. Congratulations, for you are hardcore!
From what I've heard it's fairly good. Read this preview and they do a good job of answering most gameplay and beyond questions:

No, not in my opinion anyway. The PvP in CO is limited to arenas and is terribly unbalanced early in the game, though the diversity of powers evens things out in the later levels.
Ah, k. That's sort of what I thought you were saying, just wanted to make sure. I agree they didn't have quite as much content variety as they should've.

I still think NCSoft made a pretty bold move in making a sci-fi based MMO in a market mainly dominated by fantasy-based MMOs. It would be great to see a lot more of that in future games, and very rarely do we get the chance to play the villain rather than the hero.
I wrote a review of Champions Online which I worked hard to be unbiased and fairly comprehensive
Champions Online: The Review
"Super fun PVE … Super bland PvP..and a Lot of Spandex in Between"
Hope this helps
