G13 & GameGuard on OBT 1.5

JamLAwJamLAw Member Posts: 7

I just finished updating the CBT client to the OBT client at version 1.5.  When the game was started a GameGuard web page came up proclaiming an error 124, 153.  The client continued and I got to see the lovely opening cinematic then the login screen.  I then tested my G13 by stroking the keys that represented WASD and it did function on the login screen.   The servers are of course not up so I couldn't  continue.  My question is first of all, what are those errors, and will the logitech G13 function properly within the game?  I am running Vista x64 edition, to help all you helpful minds out there.

The Gameguard issue is just your internet protection taking too long for the program and its more of a ugly auto startup program. GameGuard is fine imo. Now the reason g13 doesn't work is GameGuard doesn't allow it. NCsoft considers both G15 and G13's as illegal... actually i don't know what they specifically say about it, but they don't allow the macro systems. The keyboard should work just fine.

I get the same error and I don't have that keyboard. I think probably the error has to do with everything not up and running yet as I still end up at the logon screen. In any case just keep your installer files in case you need to reinstall and just wait for the 6th and see if it works then...

Oddly enough, I downloaded fileplanets 1.5 and installed it. Everytime I launch aion, the gameguard web page comes up. I believe they put that in there to let people know if they have one of those errors to read further. Also, when I close the client, it takes me to aions website. Something I know I can turn off once I am actually in the game. As I said though, I think the gameguard web page is automatic. Others will have to chime in here that downloaded the full 1.5 from fileplanet and see if theirs does it as well.

That what I ment to say, if that wasn't what I had said. GameGuard's little error is automatic, it's probably NCsoft not using a specific version that nProtect wants them too or w.e.

Well, at least when I got to the login screen I touch the G-keys that represented WASD an the letters WASD appeared in the User name slot.   This leads me to believe that the G13 profile is functioning but I just wondered if anyone knew definitely if it would work with the game.

As for the person who posted right after my original post.  I downloaded the patch from Fileplanet and that may have taken 15 minutes, and when I applied it today it took less that 5 minutes to update.  I don't know where you are in the world, but I use an ISP here in Hawaii that provides the residents with up to 15Mbs, which is what I have.

Jamlaw, I have the G15 keyboard and it works fine in the game. Gameguard will keep the profile manager from running and on mine it even stops the lcd from working (I.E. it just freezes it at whatever is on the screen and it does not update) So if your keys are working at the login area, you will be fine. Just no macros allowed.

Well there is another post on this forum that has something to do with multiboxing, not sure which one. The person stated that the G15 and G13's wont work. That's what I'm going off of.

the built-in NCsoft patcher is using a "trickle" updater which downloads very slow... I am guessing that is the problem. I use fileplanet as well, definitely the way to go on this if someone has a few bucks to spare. Subbing for one month (basic) doesn't cost much and it is alot faster than NCsoft.

I installed it and I get the same webpage popup when I start Aion. I'm sure its nothing to worry about.

Same here for all the CB's.

No macro, profiles switch or LCD but the current profile i.e. key assignments were working fine. I never use the macros anyway so no problems there for me.

If the G15 works it is a safe'ish bet the G13 will as they basically have the same software just a different key layout afaik.

Cannot verify if this will be the case in 1.5 until 6th, fingers crossed

I have both g15 and g13.  So far they have both worked fine for single button presses.  If I recall correctly I even used the g13 for like a few alt or ctrl+button  and they seemed to work fine.  I would be fairly upset if I could not at least use it for single button presses.

    Why oh why can't they make a g15 in a spilt-key design...

    Glad I found this thread.

All through the closed beta I had no problems with Gameguard until the final downloaded piece went in this morning.

Then all 3 PC's at the house popped up that IE window with the Gameguard message saying I should delete "the program" and reinstall it. (didn't even call Aion out by name)  Potential issue with virus protection or whatever.  (same codes as reported earlier, 123, 124 or whatever)

Yet, all 3 computers brought the login screen up fine and we could watch the cinematic movie (so that's what Aion is about)

I'm going to sit tight until the open beta and see if it works before i do anything drastic.

Go back and read it again.  That page that pops up is a troubleshooting wiki, for those that are having problems with the game.  It wasn't saying you were.  I get it too, only I actually read it.

The pop-up looks like advertizing for GG or somesuch to me.

Just like Aion`s page pop-up when you exit the game.

I`m sure there is a way to turn both off but we prolly have to do it ingame, so for now just ignore it imo.

I got the same error page pop up from GameGuard.  Everyone on the guild has said the same thing... ignore it and move on :)

Sorry... Don't know anything about the keyboard

I have the G15 and had no problems during CBT6 but I don't have the Logitech drivers running although I heard the older drivers can work happily with GG - either way it's no biggie. The in-game macros are decent.

But, what DOES bug me is the fact I can't use the LCD display to show who is talking in Vent or TS as it does not allow that either. There will be lots of ppl playing together in Legions for the first time and it's invaluable to know who is talking on Vent/TS so you get to know the guildies - or legionies (what are we to call them??!! lol) and it's imperative you know who the healers are so you can chat them up and ask them to keep you up (I mean alive...your mind's in the gutter boys!). Most healers in MMOs are female IRL anyway heh.

Wish my wife would play MMOs :(

Brave spokesman. Last time I remember hearing such assurances it was from GOA just before the registration and open beta of WAR, and looked what happened there.
