I don't think this game will be able to the problems it has as far as pvp, clunkiness, cash shop, ect... I give it a year... with DC Universe coming out it's going to do better because it will get more attention for having the DC in front of it's name. Plus it looks like much better from the screens. So in enjoy the lifetime subscription... to bad it's going to be for the life of the game and not your life.
DC Universe is an SOE game. Therefore destined to be EPIC FAIL. Lifetime account good choice if the game last more then a year, which it will. Plus once the kid see you playing CO, more likely to try it out.

Why would you want this to happen? has Cryptic done you wrong? I personally don't want any of these games to fail. The more that fail the less that will be made and the less creative they will be. There are costly to create and a big risk. we need some successes in the industry to show viability.
CO is a good game and deserves its players base. Cryptic has made a pretty solid game with an release that, while has some bugs, is completely playable and fun.
Why would you spend 200 dollars buying something for your daughter that you know she doesn't like? That doesn't make any sense. If it was anything else.. say for example you were in Forever 21 and she saw a dress that she said was 'ugly and horrible', would you turn around and go buy it for her? I don't think you would.. it makes no sense.
No offense dude, but if you really wanted to do something nice for your kid, you would could have spent 200 bucks on something you know she'd love. That would have been a truly sweet thing to do. This.. is just weird...

Personally I would probably not go lifetime, but I think it's great you play MMOs with your daughter. Looking forward to my kids being old enough to do the same thing.

$200 isn't that much money at all. I spend that every 2 weeks on alcohol. Hell i just spent $700 on CHL season tickets and that only last for 5 months.. MMO's are still a bargain.

Well naturally, 200 bucks is not something I would say is chump change. I work for a living and recognize thats an investment.
However, when I look at the fact I tend to subscribe permanently to a game when I like it, 200 dollars seems like a steal.
I have Lifetime to LOTRO and I've been subbed to WOW and COH since launch.
As to getting your kids into MMOs, there are plusses and minuses to anything. The key is to stress "Hey, make sure you get other things done first"
I have to admit though with the CO launch, I could hardly think of anything else today. This game really seems 'special' in the same way I felt WOW was special on the first day of launch.

200 bucks is about 3.5 console games. I've got stacks of those sitting around my house gathering dust. So if you want to get on me for buying anything stupid, its probably 'Superman" for XBOX360. The Gamestop guy was like "Its like GTA except you are Superman" and I totally believed him (He hadn't lied to me before).
I have a friend who thinks everything on the internet should be free. I guess he was there that day when someone said "All services on the internet will cost zero dollars". So while he makes a comfortable living and would think nothing of spending 15 bucks on lunch at a decent restaurant, spending 15 bucks to play a game with dynamic content for a full month blows his mind and makes steam come out of his ears.
I think when you put that 15 bucks in perspective to the amount of fun you get out of it (or do not) as it compares to the cost of a lunch or a console game (or whatever form of entertainment you want to compare it too) it's really pretty good value.
I would not consider myself the typical 'fanboi' type. I am a professional who has been playing computer games since the early 1980s. My favorites are turn based strategies and open world games that lets me choose my own path (fallout 3 or GTA types).
I am skeptical of mmos and games and their promises, yet at the same time I try to look at it on the positive side. I empathize with the developers releasing this game and tweaking it is a massive undertaking. It takes a lot of coordination, change control and analysis. I doubt they do stuff 'randomly' or with no direction or plan, however I also don't delude myself into thinking its ALL coming from bill roper.. There are proabbly several opinions on how to do this involved and they may even have opposing viewpoints on how to do that.
This game however, I don't have a problem spending the first 200 bucks for myself. That was a given. I had decided that during beta this was worth the risk. The big issue I had was it was killing me 15 minutes before this deal was gone to think "Hey in about 4 months when CO kicks COH's ass and all her friends go to CO will she change her tune and want to play? and won't it be cool if I can say "Hey, I knew you would want to play with your dear old dad, so I got you a copy." (even if in reality, it will be her friends that probably bring her to CO. Its the user community on COH that keeps her there, not the game so much)

But that is only part of the statememt. Cryptic also said that most of the items would be costume pieces, action figures, etc and ANYTHING otherwise that can be bought can also be earned in game.
We would all be a fool to think they are not going to optimize their item shop to sell worth while things though (which means game impacting items)...at some point. As long as those are reasonably attainable, as they have stated, wthin the game itself then I am OK with it and it is not that big of a deal. Right now, I see the most valuable thing they could sell would be additional character slots. Later, they will probably keep the respec in game costs a little high and offer a micro transaction for those (guessing but makes sense as repecing your character seems to come up a lot).
Anyway, back to the OP, Just hope his daughter gets into it as it is a FUN GAME.
