Midgard...good stealther killer?

SotoSoto Member UncommonPosts: 177

Besides other stealthers what classes does Midgard have to deal with the pesky enemy stealthers in BGs?

Your best bet would probably have to be a templated, twinked out, skald.  That said, if you paid anything less than about 5 plat for your character's gear, you're not a "real skald" in Thidranki, and 5 plat wouldn't begin to cut it for Molvik (the only 2 regularly populated battlegrounds)

Why a skald?  Instant mez is win, especially when you follow it up with side style stun and an avalanche of instant direct damage nukes.  And go hammer.  Crushing/blunt weapons do additional damage against assassins, which are the stealthers I'm guessing you're probably having problems with.  Archers are pretty much a joke in Thidranki.  I don't really know of any archers that are hard to kill in Thidranki, but Molvik (with artifacts and buffbots), you'll have some fights on your hands.  Melee archers are tougher than bow archers, and there has been a trend toward more of them, I've seen.

Happy hunting, ya easy mode scumbag. ;p  I'll be seein' ya from the real player's side of the game.  (Any side but midgard.)

In Molvik, Gem of Lost Memories > Skalds.  I ate Skalds for lunch with my Inf.  Zerkers, Savages and shield tanks were my toughest non stealther Mid enemies.  Pre powered up Maulers were also tough depending on spec.

I considered the GoLM's Crowd Control Reduction buff, but as I recalled, it was only good for one mez/stun/cc, and unless someone can kill a skald in under 30 seconds, he's going to get another mez attempt off, heal up, and go to town on you.

The skalds you killed were probably untemplated or otherwise unskilled players.  Years ago when I played a skald on Guinevere, I never lost to any sort of stealther.  The only exception was Cable, a Lurikeen Ranger with Physical Defense, which has since been taken away from all archers.

At any rate, as the game stands now, I don't know any Infiltrators that can or have soloed the Gem of Lost Memories encounter at or before level 39, and good luck trying to find a helpful player in the game that will assist...  The game is very single player nowadays.

The list of bugs and game imbalances is reaching a record-breaking length for online games, I'd bet, but the game can still be fun at times.

Not the one that jumped me in the RvR lands and almost broke our truce with the Hibs...

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

I think the only fight I've ever had in Molvik that lasted more than 30 seconds was against a Valkyrie. Don't recall many fights with my Inf at any level that lasted more than 30 seconds to be honest, and usually Inf fights only last half of that time.

I haven't played in almost a year, but GoLM mob was, what, level 35?  Any Inf that can't solo GoLM mob at 35-39, especially if he's buffed and even moderately geared, isn't really going to be a threat to anyone in PvP.

On a side note, yeah PD on archers was total BS.  I can't believe it took as long as it did to remove that.

I haven't played in a while, but IMO DAoC is waaaaaay better than WAR.  I'd recommend trying it if they have free trials still going, which I think they do.
