Looking over the description of the game and watching some videos nothing looked inspiring. Even Aions classes are the same ones in most fantasy MMOPRGs. Are people intereseted in this mainly because it is new and you can fly???? Aions character models look like Linage II and what is with those OVERSIZED WEAPONS! Why, would anyone pick this game over Warhammer online?

OMG SO MANY QUESTION MARKS!!!!!!!!!!! AWWW RUN AWAY!!!!
No in all seriousness. Warhammer Online has very little to no end-game and the pvp is mainly instance, because people are too lazy or just don't want to do Open PvP. Warhammer Online has already been thrown in the can by the majority. Aion is the next PvP heavy MMO releasing. Suppose to make what warhammer failed at better. Without instanced PvP. So pretty much thats what the majority say. My opinion, Warhammer Online had a really cool PQ system, but they kept patching and then started planning for more pvp content and they didn't improve any other thing. Its like this. They bought one house, Then planned on buying another house before completely moving in. Then they didn't sell the other house. So it had no end. Thats my opinion.
Playing: Guild Wars and Exteel
Loved: WoW, Guild Wars, FFXI, and Lineage 2
Liked: Exteel, WAR, and Lineage 1
Hated:City of Heroes, City of Villians, Matrix Online, Runescape, and D&D Online.
Waiting For: Aion, Guild Wars 2, FFXIV, and SW:TOR
A very valid question. Aside from the flight ability, there are some things I like so far.
1. I like the lore
2. I like the way they set up the world. the abyss, the PvE areas which can be attacked via a rift, etc... seem like a fun idea
3. A viable third faction (albeit AI faction). This third faction can shake things up real good in a fight. WOW had the idea with the Burning Legion, but AION takes it a step further by making the faction move with a purpose, not just mindless mobs to grind.
4. Solid PvE. WAR has little in the way of good PvE. The focus is mostly PvP. AION is both. I saw someone say there is around 15 raid instances already. That's impressive, IMHO and I'm not even a raider!
There are more reasons, and I'm sure others will hit on them better than I could.
My only hope is AION will not be as buggy and broken as WAR was/is. I retried WAR just last week, and there were STILL bugged NPCs (and I don't mean just one or two) that were hostile and could attack you, and you couldn't attack back.
Up until recently, many were having problems even getting the game to run.
I saw pretty much everything there was in war so thats why.. PvP was not so interesting as there was not so much resistance (killing 89 lvl 40's with 9ppl), don't get me wrong though, it was - and still is - a nice game but atleast for me it just stopped being interesting.. What for Aion, should be some nice PvP and something fresh, atleast I hope so
Currently playing: N/A
Retired from: GW, WAR, Aion, LOTRO, Rift, SW:TOR, Vinductus
Oh I dunno.....it might have something to do with the fact that Wankhammer is incredibly boring to play and suffers from terrible game design that results in pointless pvp and stupidly dull pve.......but then thats what happens when Mythic make a pve focused game with instanced scenarios and then add a bunch of dull empty playpens shortly before release because they didnt know what kind of game they were trying to make. Just a wild stab in the dark (shrug). In fact why would anyone pick Wankhammer over anything else?
I'm hoping that unlike WAR, my PC won't constantly crash and disrupt my playtime for 15 minutes while I wait for the restart and reload.
I'm also hoping that people will want to do more than hit the instanced PvP.
I'm also hoping that EA/Mythic won't have anything to do with it! (They ruined DAoC imo and made promises for WAR that they couldn't keep. I'm disappointed in the company itself.)
UO, DAoC, FFXI, GW, WoW, LOtRO, WAR... <UO is still my favorite... >
Honestly, most of us are more excited about Aion BECAUSE WAR failed. A lot of us just want a PvP MMO that doesn't sacrifice on content. PvP is fun, but if the devs only create a room for everyone to fight in, it gets boring quickly. In my opinion, WAR was a fun game (with many bugs, unfortunately), but it didn't have the content to maintain the fun when you hit the level cap.
Because Aion is already successful in Asia and because of the many positive reviews from the Western audience, you can be sure of one thing: you are going into a game that is already very polished and with months of content / bug fixes already there. This is possibly the best way to enter into an MMO. Whether or not it remains fresh, exciting, and fun for the coming months remains to be seen. We do already know, however, that it is off to a much better start than Warhammer Online was.
Sorry I can't believe you are actually serious about this topic.
1. True aerial combat.
2. A battleground with a PvPvE purpose.
3. More balanced classes.
4. People love big weapons to swing around.
5. Fortresses with a purpose.
beautiful article here that basically sums it all up for you

we all have to face it NCsoft just pwns
Big Weapons Rock!!!!!!1111
I cant stand the tiny Warhammer the Warrior Priest has. Looks puny for a Fantasy game
What's better?
Character customization. Hair. Armor look. The fact that armor isn't married to your class. Much better looking weapons and better animation/spell effects.
Crafting and resource collection are better as well. Plus, of course, the ability to fly and the 3D nature of the Abyss.
That said, Aion's World Design is even more flawed than WAR's, with a much smaller game world.
Personally, character appearance and animations were one of the reasons I finally quit WAR. World design is the second biggest reason. I hated the armor for the vast majority of the classes, often to the point that it drove me away from classes I otherwise enjoyed to play. Of course, this was on top of the other flaws in the game. With enthusiasm over the game in general waning, pronounced dissatisfaction with the way the characters looked was just a final straw.
I'll be playing Aion for a couple months for something new and for the challenge of it, but in many ways it's just as flawed a game as WAR, so don't take my decision to play Aion as meaning I think it's a great game or in general superior to WAR. Both games are flawed and we find ourselves still waiting for the next, great MMORPG.

Melee Animations.
And as somebody said, the Character Models are Horrid!!! Warrior Priest look laame for a Fantasy RPG. I wanted to look strong and buff like a Paladin, but all the human classes look Weak and puny.
Big, oversized weapons match perfectly with big, oversized epeens.
War has lots of instanced PVP combat. Aion doesn't. Simple as that.

I liked warhammer. It just didnt have some much needed fun factor.
PvP felt like I was grinding for High Warlord in WoW.
Thats what killed WAR for me, and that it wasnt DAOC 2 with a good engine.
So you wanna know whats really different?
PvPvE
Its pvp in raiding all in one!! That pretty awesome.
Wide open pvp.
Crowd Control. Stupid Ass mythic thought crowd control was no good and the lack of helped its own demise. AION has plenty of CC.
Wings
Charachter Customization.
The engine is good. Mythics engine was the same shitty engine taken from DAOC.
And SURPRISE it lagged the same way. When I hit someone the sounds didnt match up and I felt no connection to my charachter. No OOMPF sound factor whatsoever.
That enough?
/edit I just read that article. Good stuff.
The fact that I don't fall alseep while leveling.
It has PvPvE.
Z axis (aerial) combat.
Graphics that don't hurt my eyes.
I liked warhammer. It just didnt have some much needed fun factor.

That enought?
Lack of CC in WAR????????????? WTF???? Aion having plenty makes it that much worse.
the servers are stable, you don't lag horribly when theres more than 10 people around you. And it doesn't try to be the next big thing. They aimed to fill the pvp niche thats been open for a very long time now and they WILL achieve that.

War really didn't have any hard CC except roots, Aion's CC isn't minutes long like in DAoC though and has more countermeasures available than DAoC did. For example, I believe chanters get a mantra that makes group stun immune, clerics can remove, tree/sleep, and I believe gladiators have a cooldown that makes them 80% immune to all forms of CC for X seconds.
Aion is graphically more appealing to most players and the game is polished.
Aion is a finished, polished, perfectly working game and astounding 3D engine.
Basically everything Warhammer is not. And that's coming from someone with 2 max lvl characters in WAR.
Listing everything that is better about Aion compared to that atrocity which is WAR would take far too long.
Simply put, Aion isn't a clunky, unstable, IP-raping, piss-poorly managed abortion of a game that was shat out of Mark Jacobs ass months, if not years, before it was ready. Aion doesn't have Paul-Paul, the airbrushed-pants-wearing British mongoloid circus idiot, prancing around like some half-ass rockstar, saying months before release that Aion will be the game that practically blows you when you boot it up, then fails miserably on every concievable objective set set forth by the knuckle-dragging Dev crew.
WAR is the game that probably forever put me off pre-ordering. WAR took an IP that I have been enthralled with for years, took a steaming crap all over it, then handed it out, all the while mindlessly jibbering how great it is. Urban dictionary should have a picture of the WAR box art next to the definition of fail. I am incapable of putting into words, how I feel about WAR, at an effective level, short of setting a trashcan full of my dog's feces on fire, taking a pic, then scanning it and posting it here.
None of which apply to Aion, as far as I can see. I may not play Aion past the first month, but no game will ever inspire the level of revulsion I have for WAR.
Katsma is Lithuanian for 'he who drinks used douche fluid'.
This is an answer for basically every question why play aion why is it good why is there so much hype.
The game has been out a year in asia and is very polished and we all know what we are getting for the most part. We all know this game wont be released with 10000 bugs and flaws or unbalanced classes. People want an MMORPG they can trust right now after AOC and WAR to a big shit on the market with there crap.
Seriously, what better about this game then Warhammer????????????????
Nothing...they both suck in my opinion...
