Aion: downloading tips

Those of us that have downloaded Aion know that it's a bit of a long process. You start the NCsoft launcher and download.
Thankfully they have released a torrent of the game client which should speed up downloading(that is if people seed).
But even with a torrent available Aion could still take some time to download. So i'm here to spread my wisdom and give you a few tips on how to download Aion a bit quicker.
Tips:
1. If your on a network...get off. Connect yourself directly to your modem. If you dont have that luxury then this tip may not help you.
I was on a network and got 40 kb/sec. I connected directly to my modem and got anywhere from 500kb-1mb/sec(it varied).
2. Limit the number of services you have running(i.e. bonjour service, Itunes services, update services)
3. Close other internet intensive programs. One of those being Windows update.
Other internet killers:
Other mmos;
Antivirus programs that constantly update;
Messengers(yahoo,Aim,msn, etc);
Desktop search bars(only take a small bit of your bandwith);
Internet explorer(not saying you shouldnt surf the net while downloading);
Windows media center;
Programs that require that you are connected ot a host server;
Xfire;
Norton programs;
Bittorrent(unless your using the Aion torrent);
Ares P2P sharing software;
Limewire/Frostwire;
Download managers;
Email programs(Outlook,Windows Live Mail, etc);
Tv programs(msn vision, cinema now, Windows media center)
Other internet downloads;
and a whole plethora of other bandwith heavy programs...
Also using a wired connection instead of a wireless one will be a good idea as well. If your bored while downloading Aion play a game(just not an mmo). I like to play Oblivion or Supreme Commander while i wait. Mostly Supreme Commander because the matches are pretty long, even with AI(I turn on no rush timer and take my time)...
Aion doesn't have to take 5 HOURS to download. I got mine downloaded in less than 2 and 1/2 hours...And I wasn't using the torrent. So follow my guide and enjoy the game!

I posted this in another thread. Got both the 1.02 version and the 1.5 patch downloaded in under 2 hours. And I didn't have to disconnect my home network or anything.
If you don't want to wait for the patcher you can download the 1.02 version from here:

And then download the CBT to OBT patch from here:

Even the free servers for those 2 websites are pretty fast.

Any reason you don't want to use fileplanet?
Sure you got a waiting time, but the speed makes more than up for it.. I almost always constantly dl with close to max speed, and I'm not on the "high speed subscriber servers" or whatever they're called...
I downloaded aion overnight without any problems. Moreover if you use the fileplanet download manager you can resume your dl if something happens (like i-net dying on you). Before that I tried the torrent.. for 10 minutes. Speed was horrible ^^
Few reasons.
1. The links I posted don't have wait times.
2. The original 1.5 version that was posted to Fileplanet was broken.
3. I can use my own download management software.
4. I get better speeds from Fileplay then Fileplanet.

what do you use to download from gamershell / fileplanet etc? as mine was using the browser and was downloading at 50k... i have a 10mb connection and i'm used to speeds that range from 1mb/s to 1.5mbs/s
now im trying the rapidshare link as the nclauncher failed and keeps giving me a connection error
Maybe I can give a tip for torrent downloads that helped me, and may be relevant to you depending on your ISP.
All the guides tell you to unblock the ports that your torrent downloader uses, and while that is fine and dandy, it never seemed to help me. I still got dreadful download rates. Then I read a guide that also told you to encrypt your download (I use utorrent and it is a dropdown box somewhere in the preferences that you have to set to 'enabled'). Apparently some ISPs deliberately restrict torrents (presumably because of their association with piracy), but if you encrypt the data, they can't tell it is a torrent.
Doing this one thing increase my download speed by about a factor of 5.
