Mutable Realms announced today that due to the overwhelming response to their open beta program they will be issuing the beta accounts at a slower pace than they originally planned on. They will now be randomly selecting a group of testers each day starting January 1, 2005, allowing them to better adapt their single world server system. Their official announcement is below:
Dear friends of Wish: Because of the enormous number of beta applications that we have received (more than 60,000 at the time of this writing), we will not enable all beta accounts on January 1 at once. Instead, we will only enable a number of randomly chosen beta accounts every day, starting January 1. We require this transition period to better configure our one-world server. By granting access to the beta test in stages, we can better allocate resources where they are required. We will try our best to enable all accounts as quickly as possible. In any case, if you are not one of the first to be selected, don't worry! The live content we have prepared for you will allow you to join at any time. Please do not send us any inquiries about when your account will be enabled. We will send you an email notification once your account is active. The selection is completely random, and no exceptions will be made. Best regards, Your Wish Team |

everybody who signs up will get to play. all this means is that most of us will have to wait until the 2nd, or the 3rd or 4th until our accounts are activated.
i think it's a good idea. i'd rather be able to test it without crazy lag caused by 40,000 people trying to log on at once
it's just a dream

I guess their deal with Fileplanet paid off better than they predicted. Perhaps this game won't do so bad after all.
Going to be a big server with 60,000 people. As long as the lag isn't too bad it should be pretty cool with everyone playing on a single server.

"Going to be a big server with 60,000 people."
So you think just because they have 60,000 beta apps (half of which are prolly like a year or more old already) that they will have 60,000 people actually playing?
please.. get real.. Wait until the people actually login and see this joke of a game. Just like Ryzom... hey ryzom had loads of beta tester signups too! where are they all now? ohh ya.. playing EQ2.
If you can't describe what you are doing as a process, you don't know what you're doing.
Just a note for accuracy: they didnt start with Beta 2 sign ups until 7/10/04. By my count, that's 5.75 months...not a year, or more, old. Now there are others out there that have had their applications up for over a year, and they STILL don't have the number that have even downloaded the client on FP alone. So if it's a bad indication for Wish, then heaven help those other guys because their starting pool is even smaller.
No, I doubt that 60,000 people will be ever on at the same time. I doubt even a quarter of that will ever be on at the same time. And yeah I bet a lot of people signed up months ago and will never play the game. But even if only 10% of that number play that will be more then the average 2,000-3,000 per server then other games. And even if the game is a 'joke,' I'll just go back to playing EQ2. Not like I lost anything or paid money.

I dunno, im interested in trying this game out. "looks" like it has potential. we've got nothing to lose by trying beta. I liked Horizons and Shadowbane and this game seems to take what was good about each and smash it together.
i'll judge the game after i've played it.

what new features? It has no new features. its just a player versus everything game. But without the EVERYTHING you can find in eq2 or warcraft or even older pve games like AC1.

I dont care what anyone says. Having only 30,000 downloads for a free testing of a new mmorpg on fileplanet is VERY bad. Someone is shaking in their boots somewhere because if thats the only amount of interest they can get from people to play for FREE than whats going to happen when it comes time to actually start CHARGING people to play?

all i know is there needs to be a game to replace the old days of UO. will this game do that ? i dont know, most likly not the pvp i loved about it but it can get close, and the skill over level system i have misted for to long. if the game gives me a way to pvp or better yet pk a good crafting system . nonlevel system and nice grfx ill be hanging with em a long time . if not ill be waiting for darkfell
Yeah. Has anyone gotten an invite yet? Or is that part of the non-disclosure stuff? I'm still waiting.
