I'm done with WoW, I just got kicked from SWG because SOE is a complete idiot, and I'm laid off. So while I'm looking for work I need an MMO, a free one. So my question is this; What is the best free mmo out right now?

depends what you are looking for
anarchy online has an umlimited free trail, anarchy online and notum wars expansion free, while the other expansions are p2p, lots of scope to create your char in ao
atlantica offers a different take on the existing wow clone form but is uber grindage and enforced interaction
dragon sky seems to offer some fun gameplay with good pvp endgame but is open beta atm so a little iffy
personally i like bounty bay now and again for a sandbox f2p game
i hear taikodom is good if you can ever get it to load
for a 100% free game you could try planeshift
1. Warrior Epic. They've got a lot of the bugs fixed since launch in May. It's lookin good.
2. I've been hearing good things about Battlefield Heros. I installed it but never got around to playing. Toony soldiers.

I was kinda leaning towards The Chronicles of Spellborn or Requiem. Aren't those 100% free?

Battlefield heroes ain't an mmo, though.
requiem is free with im, i think spellborn is going the same way
ddo will be the flavor of the month since it goes free in a week
Never played Spellborn, but I've played Requiem. It can be somewhat grindy, but it's pretty interesting. Graphically it sort of reminds me of Morrowind. I'm not really sure if I'd call it a "Horror MMO" though, more like dark fantasy maybe if I had t label it with a genre.
What about something like Runes of Magic? Or are you tending away from games with item shops? Oh and DDO Unlimited is going F2P soon too and I think it's in OB right now.

Spellborn is totally free for the time being. They will be adding some sort of model to pay, but not anytime soon (likely item shop)
I really don't like ijji but they have a few games that aint too bad currently in beta. Soul of the Ultimate Nation and Huxley. Although..Huxley is one of those new fangled MMOFPS or whatever.
I always had fun in Silkroad Online but I heard it's such a bot fest you cant even login...
Totally forgot about Free Realms. Despite being slapped in the face with the pay part a dozen times an hour, it's pretty fun.
But isn't DDO free only after you pay for the game like guild wars?
Free Realms is ran by SOE, and I will NEVER play any game ran by them as long as I live.

No the client will be Free aswell! You get about 1/3 of the games content the rest you can buy with Microtransactions or pay a monthly sub to get everything.
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
My thumb is up for The Chronicles of Spellborn too.
The game is very well made and has got great combat system.
Unfortunately what I could not get pass through is cartoon look :-(

it the best and most well rounded free to play
now also you can buy diamonds off the ah so you really never have to put money into the game, i went form 0-50/50 in a few months of hardcore play and atm just waitign for the new classes
I did beta testing for the chronicles of spellborn and requiem, that's what made me think about them. I did like TCOS the best of the two, but this runes of magic reminds me a lot of a WoW with a dash of EQ2 with the housing and decoration features of SWG. Interesting, but I wonder just how big TCOS and runes of magic is. It would suck to do the level grind and then find out that the world is pretty small.
