Is it just me or is this game rather boring?

I think the best thing about CO is character creation area, making your superhero is done well. The tutorial is fine for what it is but after that the game just doesn't compel me to play it anymore.

The missions are straightforward and simple the quests line doesn't draw you in for a primary PVE game. You don't feel attached enough to your hero to continue leveling, and that is a problem the game has. No reason to group it's pretty much a pure solo PVE game. Instance after instance it doesn't feel like a game world, ala AoC.

Combat is rather simplistic and one dimensional, energy builder then nuke ...rinse and repeat zzzz

PvP is bad. One arena full of random players duke it out for no reason.

This game just doesn't have that "it" factor to keep you motivated to play. I'll most likely play till Aion is officially released, since i enjoyed it much more.

I am a 100% with you. The "it" or "hit" factor is completely none existent. In addition, as you said, I have a massive problem to connect to my avatar.

Shame that nothing really improved about that since beta.

For all that like the game, have fun.

If you enjoyed Aion, then this game might just not be for you. I belive that those that can play Aion will find CO to be the wrong game for them.

Just like I dont like Aion. To me Aion is a WoW clone made in Korea, thats a  grind fest with anime graphics. It will probably do quite well over the years.

Sorry you didnt like CO, best of luck in Aion!

     Dax.

Yes having a blast so far. Its too much to expect great things from a 5 days old MMO so i won't go into all whining and complaining. I am being reasonable here and concentrating on good parts, which are plenty in CO.

I find the game rather entertaining...my friend and I have found numerous hilarious pop culture rips, NPC's that say hilarious things, npc's that gratefully give you hidden / extra quests for saving them or they simply run up to you asking you to save them.  It feels pretty super hero like to me.  Even some of the quest names rip on pop culture.

We flew over a park and a quest popped up called "Hungry Like a Wolf", another which leads to a boss fight called Poe'wnd, and we figured out via the crime computer how to get some pretty interesting vanity pets down in Snake Gulch..which led us to a bar full of broken down robots that pretend its the days of the Old West...course one of the dancers was completely out of sync so it added for much hilarity when we noticed it.

We also like finding interesting ways to blast people over ledges so we can watch them flail wildly as they fall to their eminate death.

I guess though it comes down to what you're really looking for in an MMO to whether you find something exciting.  Thats why there's so many choices in games out there.  Good luck on your hunt guys ... I know I found the game for me.

I'm having fun playing but I'm playing with a lot of friends fromm previous MMOs so that may have a lot to do with it.  Some people are going to think it's fun, others are going to think it's boring.  I can't handle watching baseball but obviously millions of people do.  To each their own I guess. :)

I really don't see a reason why some people should give it more time.  Out the door cryptic had every chance to make this game  the  best it could be, and they had enough feedback from the community to know what we liked and what we didn't.    If you've bought the game, at this point it would be a good idea to at least go through the entirety of its content... it won't take you too long.. and if you've paid for it, theres no reason NOT to.

Overall we had many threads about the game having a bore factor on CB...     I still like the game, but after playing all its content I really didn't see a reason to continue.. I'll probably sub when new content arrives to see it...

    Give it more time,

Bashing? If the game doesn't feel fun then saying so is hardly bashing anything. The game is a solo PvE game that is heavily instanced. If you don't like that type of game then most likely you won't like this one.

People need to understand the difference between zones and instances. AOC is instanced and CO is divided into zones. Instanced dungeons are there just like EQ2. Get your facts straight man.You make it sound as if whole game is instanced.

So you are saying you dont like something and thus it should be boring.

I dont like WoW. I dont like WAR. Are those game boring? Maybe *for me*, but there are millions of people that like them for a reason or another.

ITs a big world. Billions of people in this small ball around the universe. Kind hard to create anything that would make everyone happy, now isnt it? Hell, there are people that dislike the Sun!

So what... you are saying that the game is not for you. Great. There are maybe a hundred or more MMORPG alone in the market. Thousands of non-online games. Why not try those out?

Fresh news for you: there are thousands of people playing CO and enjoying it for months. And there are thousands of people that started to play it recently and are also enjoying it. No there are not 6billion people playing CO. But if you are surprised by thatmaybe you should try other hobbies/games.

This is merely to balance the load.  Most games have multiple servers, this one makes multiple instances of the zone that you can switch between.  It's technically an instance, but it's totally not the same as "instances" as used by most MMOGs.

There are also instances as we know them from other games, but there's a lot of content (at least 2/3) that are in the "common" areas.

Yeah, I don't really think that the "OMG instances!" complaint is valid.

I mean, when was the last time you were questing in <insert PvE themepark> and there were more than 200 other people around you in the same zone anyway? .. it's no real different than any other MMO if you were able to move between servers any time you like. The bonus is that you will never, ever find yourself with no other players around you. There'll just be less instances.

The only "boring" complaint I would have is that the game is slow to start. You can spend hours playing the game, levelling up and such, but the combat really doesn't change much compared to other MMOs. At level 10 I still typically only have a very small number of combat abilities to use.

game may be fun/good, but it is in no way a WoW killer, Super hero genre mmorpg is still a small niche

I won't tell you that you should like the game, but I don't find it boring in the least.  Can it use content boosts?  Sure, but there's tons to do and the combat system is better than many I have played over the years.  If you liked CoH, you will likely find this a more polished, faster paced game that has far less farming involved.  Mind you, CoH has about 10x the content, but that too will come.

So I'd say, yes, it's you.  Not that it's a bad thing, but hey it's not your cup of tea.  WoW bored me to tears.  EQ and EQ2 had me falling asleep at the keyboard.  They're good games, just not for me.
