Noob Question about ships.

Im new to the game and have started the arc missions and i recently lost my tristan because i failed to activate my armor repair system 
and was wondering if i should buy another tristan or a cruiser?

If you just started, I'd stick with frigates for a while until you train your skills up. If you don't have enough skills to really take advantage of a cruiser, then you're just gimping yourself and making it easier to lose the cruiser too.

golden rule that most of eve live and die by:
"never fly anything you cannot afford to lose"
stick with a tristan or catalyst for now, worry about cruisers when you have the cash to buy two and fit them.
If you are new you won't have trained up your gunnery/missle skills to medium/heavy and that's what is really needed to fly a cruiser well. (along with decent tanking skills)
Stay with good frigates for a while, besides, when you lose one the cost doesn't hurt as much.

a lot of new players go to destroyers when they want to upgrade from frigates for mission running as they use the same size modules.
however destroyers are not really as good as frigates are in pvp.
thanks for the advice. ill stick with the tristan.
Other important thing is what do you want to use the ship for?
Fly a destroyer for lvl 1 missions
Fly a cruiser for lvl 2 missions
