Once again, just go over and read their forums first. The devs have ruined much of the fun of this game in the last patch that turns the player from a superheore into an ordinary person.
Bill Roper is a delusional politician or preacher; take your pick. He hasn't credibility to say the community wanted to be nerfed to the point where your feeling as though the game-play is akin to a second job.
I was really hoping that for once, the developers wouldn't turn a lanch into a lawn-dart, but nope....Billy-boy Roper had to screw this one royaly so the fanbois could point to past poor behavior, launches and performance and justify his actions.
The majority of the player-base is not happy with the patch, being given a second-job like game by Cryptic, and masquerading feeling like your wet-paper-bag as being a superhero.

A game is either too grindy or too easy, when will you people learn that you cant please everyone. I personally thought the game was far too easy in open beta, people where level 40 in 2days. AE made me quit CoX because of the fact that being top level so fast it met nothing. If you enjoy the game, you should enjoy the grind up to max. I have not played the release version, but it sounds to me like they fix this problem, but to what extent i dont know. IS this like lineage 2 now, the way people are acting has this game change to a lineage 2 grind? or more of a WoW "grind"?
playing: Dragon Age
Waiting: for FF14, Mass Effect
Want to try: Fallen Earth
Ignore OP he is all over the official boards trolling the game. He is the last person to get any valid information from.
So ignore his blah blah and wait for a free trial. play it and make your own informed decision.
And OP you are right Bill Roper is a predator who paid his employees out of his own pockets when HellGate London went down the drain for which EA is to be blamed.
Some people have no idea what the hell they are talking about. But then its just easier to jump on haters bandwagon like ignorant fools.
That change is welcome for me and my friends who plays together. The game was way too easy, too solo friendly, their was no reason at all to team up. The change they made is the mobs are thougher, instead of going into combet with energy builder on and shoot 1 AoE and you kill the entire group of mob, you now have to start using other power. It just take a little more time to kill one mob. They nerf a bit the defensive power and regenerate power, it was like god mode, everyone was taking these power, so again, no need to team up.
People are crying on the official forum because they can not solo anymore and they lost their easy mode, but everyone in the headstart will get a free respec. You can still solo, but it is harder, you need more strategy instead of just nuke.
Get a life you freaking Gamer.....no no, you don't understand, I'm a Gamer, I have many lives!!
I think the problem altogether with the idea of "grind" in a game like this should pretty much be pointless. So many people confuse grinding with content. "Grinding" is a means to an end, a character progression tool MMOs take for granted. Speeding through some mobs with ease was more pure pleasure then it was a difficulty test. Supposedly now every other fight can mean a trip back to the starting area.
When people think of superheroes its not uncommon to think of Iron Man taking out an army of people, or wolverine running through mobs of guys, or Superman taking out a team of highly advanced aliens. The focus was always on the storyline and the big picture of saving something, no matter if the enemy had barely any power or enough power to destroy the universe. The scale of the story is what made those comics, movies and games interesting.... and CO had that at the later levels with Cosmic and Legendary enemies. Even some Major villains later on were fairly tough and required a group. Making normal enemies tougher to give the game longetivity is an MMO bore tactic... it adds grind, and it isn't fun.
Speak for yourself troll. I am very happy with new patch. No more GOD mode. And no way whiners like you are in majority. Only because you all don't play game and spend whole day crying on forums doesn't mean you outnumber happy and satisfied player base. Just that we are enjoying game so much that we don't care to post on official forum,s which is nothing more then a troll fest and sad place for angry and spiteful people to moan and scream.

Whatever you say fanboy most of the players with responses like this would be defending this game even if the devs didn't change anything and people complained it was too easy. You would've come back and said "Well you need a group for X, Y, Z"

Even if Cryptic had not made any changes i would say the same. If you can't adapt with changes in MMO you are playing wrong genre. Stick to consoles and single player games. MMOS change and sometimes drastically.
Also you guys are crying as if sky is falling or something. Only because Cryptic took away your easy mode and is trying to encourage team play suddenly CO is failing? its always the solo players who are first to cry in every single MMO i have played. Why even play MMOS if you want to run through all content solo?
I'm normally pretty critical but the early game is pretty fun and the combat is more action based than Conan, a game I've ripped on heavily in the past. I like the charge ups and and the energy rebuilder attacks. Late game though is anyone's guess.
I still feel pretty superhero..I do DIE more if I make bad choices like where to land or fly for a fight ...think smarter and you might just return to destroying henchmen.
I disagree that the majority of the play base is unhappy with the changes.
There are a lot of upset people on the boards but I've only run across a few in game. Without any sort of hard numbers it is impossible for us to guage what percent is finding the game "to hard" now, but if it was anywhere close to 50% I think I'd see a lot more evidence in the general chat and talking to people I team with from time to time.
You might want to try it before you jump in bed with the haters. Its actually fine now. My Shotgun Granny can still complete two player missions three levels higher than her without breaking a sweat. The only difference is that you have to consider your tactics now instead of just being sloppy all the time.
Some of the previously harder encounters still need some tweaking, but not much at all.
Don't buy into the hysteria.
My character soloed Fight Club after the so called nerfs. Yes, it was harder, but the fact that a single character can solo a 3 person mission says that the game is not that hard. People who are dying are not used to a dynamic combat system and are probably more in the click and push mode.
Blaming CO's problems on Roper should be the official Godwin for CO forums. There is not point in even debating the ridiculousness of it. Bring it up and you've already lost whatever point you were trying to make.
I happen to like CO so far sure I don't have any lvl 20's yet but I don't care. The xp nerf thats perfectly fine to me. I have always wondered why people wanna race to the level cap asfast as they can. How can enjoy the game when you grind away and burn thru all the quests? I played WOW for a few months never got anytoon about level 40, but I didn't care. I would hear about people hitting the cap within a week playing WOW, which to me is just freaking insane. Maybe it's just me, but I want to enjoy whatever MMO I'm paying for each month.
Noble and true, you are the hero other heroes aspire to be. You are a natural leader, selfless and kind, who will put the lives of others above your own, and are steadfast in your pursuit of justice.
Take the quiz!
Smart choices don't matter when you get ambushed by six nemesis henchmen while trying to handle the two minions/one villain the game seems to be balanced around.
Balancing defense powers around single player content would inevitably mean that the lairs in the game are a complete joke and waste of time. When I ran Telio's Tower, this quite proved to be true. A mindless, AoE zergfest. There was not a single redeeming quality to it.
How many people would be lining up to play WoW if single player/leveling content was being designed to challenge a protection paladin? In CO, everyone can make a tank, and everyone did, and now the game is now balanced around everyone being a tank. Yes, I know, you can succeed without a defensive passive... I have as well, but that is not what the game is being 'balanced' around.
I just can't fathom how you can make meaningful group encounters when three normal minions are pressing your passives to the maximum. Not surprisngly, Cryptic hasn't figured this out yet either. "They can't hit that hard because our tanks are squishy, but they are only going to live the wave of proximity mines, ego storms, ice waves and gatlings guns for about 3 seconds so we'll have some big guy randomly shoot you for 9,000 damage and if you happen to not be blocking, well, it's not like your one death is going to slow the zerg! I mean, we need to at least pretend that this is some kind of hardcore dungeon!"
They copied WoW's quest system, but that would have to be the worse thing about WoW to try and copy. Instead of copying WoW's instances, where everything seems placed to have a purpose, and you can't run through and zerg unless you have really good gear, they decided to fall back on CoH style instances... just a big room with a lot of dudes.
It's like, they just threw up their hands in disgust and said, "Well, we'll just pack this room with XX number of mobs and maybe a few will survive the hail of AoE long enough to put up a good fight."
I think it all depends on your build even after patch im able to take 6-8 henchman at once so. I dont see what all the fuss is about.
