Pretty much... I mean seriously, are we Europeans, for example, second grade citizens compared to NA and Canada? We're always getting shafted in these give-aways.
restricted to NA has been explained a few months ago: this is mainly due to shipping cost.
Even if i would be personnaly ready to take on my own this cost, i dont think euro players can do anything but hopping an Euro mmo website to organise such events
Good luck to all participants btw, and thank you mmorpg.com
Id be up for the give-a-ways from my site if I knew where I could organize them, I think its rather unfair that the EU is left out when it comes to MMORPG.com's Give-a-ways. Shipping of a game can't be too costly i'm sure, show a little love back to your EU fans mmorpg.com .
After all, your site is visited by them a hell of allot. :P

Yeah shipping costs would be way to much to send 1 game in europe... *deep sigh *
Argh, yet another NA/Canada competition.
So frustrating I used to love this site because they didn't have territory restrictions all the time, but that's seriously changed as of late.
Please go back to NCSoft and ask for 8 EU CE boxes mmorpg.com
There's a forwarding company here which i could send stuff to its docks in NY, and it'll forward it to me (at an excellent price). Problem is, the stupid IP restrictions. It should a "physical" address resitriction. Whatever ...

The game don't have any IP restrictions, but the NCSoft site does, easily to get around if you use a proxy. I got a friend in the states, she couldn't register the EU CB key I sent her, worked fine when I did it for her.
Yall know you can't join the AION 'Open-Beta' unless you've Pre-ordered(with Beta keys) the retail box or have participated before in the CB right?
Just to let yall know.
While you're at it, also ask 8 CE boxes for South East Asia, Thanks!

EU-residents always seem to be getting the shaft on all the "important" competitions here on MMORPG.com
Fileplanet had some keys for it as did gamereactor.net and eurogamer.net and a few german sites.
I guess I should point out too the fact that the drawing is happening in October... not useful at all for people who want to start on day one.
Fileplanet had some keys for it as did gamereactor.net and eurogamer.net and a few german sites.
Fileplanet charges for its keys, you need to be a subscriber. Easier to just preorder the game from somewhere you can cancel your order than subscribe to a site that literally sells beta access.
I wonder why not just let the shipping charges to be paid by the winner in the case of a non-NA winner.

This is why I have never regretted having an active sub with fileplanet. In fact I pay for the annual sub and I have gotten into tons of betas. I also have a annual sub to tentonhammer.com and gotten into tons of betas through them also.
Indeed, I was wondering the same thing.

http://www.mmorpg.com/contests/aion_promo.cfm the other one is over and the winners have been selected
I wonder how much longer and when this contest is over till we know who won
Generally area restrictions on contests have to do with the large variances in each countries (or even state/regions within countries) laws regarding the winning of prizes with a cash value.
Because it can be hard to comply with everyones laws restrictions are generally put in place to vastly simplify the running of contests.
I don't know if thats what's happening here or not but I've seen that given as an explanation by many people running contests for why they had to exclude even some states from otherwise US wide contests.
The reason is very simple: Laws for sweepstakes are very strict et state specific and it’s impossible to create and administrate sweepstakes that can comply with all international laws.
Even big companies don’t do it. I like the answer given by the official Star Wars www.starwars.com site as an example:
‘We certainly understand that Star Wars fandom is not limited by national boundaries. We know there are millions of fans around the world just in the United States and we regret not being able to allow everyone to participate in our giveaways.
In order for us to hold a giveaway or sweepstakes on our site we must comply with the legal requirements in every territory in which the contest is available (on the Web, this means virtually the entire planet). However, it is simply beyond the scope of our group to comply with contest laws around the world. Thus, our posted rules satisfy the requirements for U.S. participants only.
When Canada and other countries simplify their requirements for on-line contests, we will be able to allow our giveaways to cross international borders.’
I'm having this issue myself now, since FFXIVCore.com is part of the Curse Network, it means I cannot have contest winners outside of the US . And I'm Swedish.
