Unable to contact game patch server.
Please check your internet connection or try again later.
If you want to skip the update step, force a launch using the right-click menu on the game list or main button.

Now, I've already patched to 1.5.0.1, I think using the Aion launcher. But, I turned on the launcher today to check things out and it had a window pop up with the above message.

try again on the 6th.. Im sure it will work until then its a pointless exersize worrying about not being able to patch a game that isnt live yet
Open Beta doesn't start until Sunday. I wouldn't really worry about it until then.
As posted on one of the NCSoft West's twitter pages yesterday they are currently updating the game systems. That includes the launcher / patch system.

This is exactly the kind of attitude and lack of planning that causes a zillion people to download the game at the same time on the very day they should be playing. No, sorry; I'd rather be playing on September 6th, not getting ready for a 3 day download starting September 6th.

You're not the only one - I've had the exact same message.

If you're complaining now that the game isn't working when it's not even live then... maybe you shouldn't be trying to play in the open beta. And probably waiting a few months after release before you start playing would be a good idea too.
They are still testing the game. Open beta does not start until the 6th. Like I stated above, they are still updating their systems in preparation for open beta.
Even though they're doing their best, there will still be inevitable problems during the open beta phase and probably when the game is released on the 22nd too. Seems like your a little over zealous to me.
If it doesn't work on the 6th then by all means, complain. But all these posts about patch issues and error messages now is a little premature.

I have this error 36 also, glad it's not just me ^^
Thing is that I think it IS something to worry about now, because I do want to play from Sunday, and don't want to be sorting it then when everyone else who is trying to sort out their problems, that they didn't sort out in advance, which will make everything more slow.
I have sent the question to the NCsoft support team and when they get back to me (was promised some time today but that's looking unlikely currently (unless they are based in NA)) I will post up the response here.
I have the same problem but you probably can't connect because it's not up right now. I'm sure that's all it is. Hence, wait till sunday.
Lani Blazier's twitter says the GG server is down and everything will be fine by OB. No need to worry.

Lolz I had the same problem, and the solution is easy peasy. Right click on the NCsoft Launcher and "Run as administrator", and voila, it should work. At least it did for me.
Then again, you won't be going far since the GG servers are down, and obviously so are the Aion ones lol
Did that and now it's saying the game isn't available in my country!! haha thanks mate
Haha, that's happening to everyone now. It's possibly because the GG servers are down - cause it happened to me too. So, I would suggest just waiting it out; they should update it and get it fixed by the 6th

Yeah it's a universal issue atm. along with GG just being epic fails. Just wait for the 6th and then bitch at lani for lying!

I'm glad I didn't listen to all the smart-ass "wait till the 6th" comments. Maybe it would have been ok but it helps to know everything's a "go" before beta starts right? After installing I was getting "connection to auth server (code 36)" errors and also crashes on trying to force launch the game. Using the shortcut to launch and hitting "play now" got me no where, repairing didn't work, nor did changing the region. What finally did it was using the pulldown menu on the "aion" tab under "installed" on that left hand menu and selected "check for updates". It patched to 1.5.0.3, did the cinematic and launched the game. Who knows, maybe the patch servers have been up and down and I just happened to check it at the right time but that's what finally did it.

Try to stop the auto-update and manually click "check for update" next to Aion in the launcher see if is because you missed that small patch they released yesterday after they finished patching the server.
Mine works fine and zero error ever since they finish their patching and I patched it with that laughable small file which only took 2 seconds to download.

Yeah I'll have a cookie. Point is i think most people would rather have it patched and ready to go, see the pretty cinematic and have some peace of mind everything a green light instead of seeing all these damn errors. I'm happier about things. I'm sorry you aren't.
