Open beta question

Clypto75Clypto75 Member UncommonPosts: 70

Hey, interested in seeing what Aion has to offer. I keep seeing people asking for keys and whatnot so my first question is, Open beta not so open? As in you needing a actually code/key to get into open beta or can you just download and hop onto the game tomorrow at 9?

Secondly, if I can get into the game tomorrow without a key then where is a decent place I can download the open beta client? I have been to two websites so far and keep getting errors whenever clicking on the download links.

You can get a key by preordering the game through gamestop or aion's website. You may also get a key from being a Fileplanet.com member. But your right, the "Open" beta isnt so open.

Well that sucks but on the flip side, the people who showed enough interest to put some cash down on a preorder probably deserve it more.

Well, do you get extra keys when pre ordering or just one? Or can we just whore ourselfs here and ask for keys? :)

Sadly, you get only the one when pre-ordering. (I'm having loads of fun, and I wanted to get my friends hooked! >_<) I imagine any uninterested Fileplanet member on this site could get you a key, or anybody who both pre-ordered and has a Fileplanet subscription. You should certainly try requesting one in the OB key request thread.

Somebody also mentioned that a 5 dollar pre-order at Gamestop will get you a paper OB key.

If you do not like the game, is it possible to cancel and also how soon do you get the key?

Alright guy, so you pay a small fee to them. Get a key which is instant I assume, and a good download link right? So seven bucks just to see open beta. Thats like almost 3 packs of cigs man. @_@

Just buy the game, you can play with my crew of 7 at launch and in open beta on Israphel, The games pretty cool and i'm sure it's good enough to entertain you for a month... I have played most MMO's and most I dont make it further than the free month anyways. Aion though I will be able to last in for a while. Woot.

i think it needs to be re-stated for the op(perhaps you missed it in a previous post in your thread):

open beta does not mean everyone has the right/privelage to be apart of it.

it's not open in the sense that anyone can join it, it's open in the sense that you can "openly" discuss the beta, i.e. no non-disclosure agreement sealing your lips.

All you're doing is complaining that you can't test a game out for free before you buy it (not to mention before it's even released). This wouldn't be a fair comment if you relate AION it to single player demos and the like, accordingly, on the topic of relativity:

most MMO's do no have a free trial available until after a year off the launch date, so it's pretty odd to think that you should be able to trial it for free before the game is even released!

and I believe that 1 week after the open beta begins, keys will be available for non file planet member for free as well (may just be a rumor).

Also to keep in mind, it's better to be slightly restrictive in the open beta to ensure a smooth open beta for people who do get in, more people = more lag / issues. the smoother it is for the people who are in it, the better the chance they will continue on to buy the game.

    quality > zerg

and if you can't part with your 5 dollars to trial a game...

(break it down into time, 5 $ divided by 2 weeks worth of beta, play for 2 hours a day - you will prob play more - that's 5 divided by 28 = 18 cents per hour of entertainment.) if you can't afford that then how can you hope to pay the monthly sub?

    =/

there is no "Fast" way but i'd say torrents as when I did the torrent there were not many seeds and many many leeches... maybe it changed.

Eh, I expected a post like this. The problem isnt me parting with my mound of gold here sunshine. The problem is, even if I wanted to get the game I am in BFE and would need to do so over the internet. So then I asked to the guy who said Fileplanet sub if it was instantly received.

Do I want to beta a game? If I find a bug while playing sure no problem, but Im really just wanting to see if it would be a game Im interested in. Imo, they are basically giving people this option since I havent seen this practiced by a lot of other MMOs. Besides, doesnt anybody get tired of plopping 50 to 60 bucks down and only playing for a day to a month on these games?

Just looking and asking questions bud, not bitching. Going to come back with my cig comment in quotes next?
