I'm personally still looking forward to Earth Eternal and I think It's refreshing that some of the content the game is offering is different then the usual stuff.

The game's race selection and groves ( player made content ) are two things I'm looking forward too.

Even though furries scare the hell out of me, I'm pretty excited to get to play as my favorite animal(rat) rather than the standard elves and dwarves., This looks like it will be pretty awesome for a f2p browser-based game so I will definitely give it a try when I get the chance.

I certainly can't wait until open beta starts. Given the quality of Mihaly's design on the text MUDs he's produced, I expect big things from Earth Eternal, and by the sounds of it he's bringing in a few things that haven't really been done successfully before.

I really like the sound of the way multiclassing works in the game, and the fact that all of the classes have a unique mechanic (rage for warriors, stalking for rogues, life/death for druids and a choice of four types of elemental mana for mages) sounds like a lot of fun. I don't know if the graphics will be entirely cutting-edge, but hopefully the rest of the game design more than makes up for it. After all, there are plenty of games out there with amazing graphics that are utterly boring to play, so looks aren't everything!

Not intending to be offensive, but this game offers absolutely nothing new.  There's nothing refreshing about it, and selecting a 'skin' or race is meaningless and so are the groves....there's nothing lasting or game-play immersive about the groves.  This game is nothing different than any other f2p cartoon mmo.

I'm very excited for open beta but i just wish they could give us a release date so i won't have to keep checking up on the site all the time to see if they posted anything about the release.

    I beg to differ:

    1.  Equipment:  Say you love how this one piece of armor really looks but you like how this other armor has fire resistance.  You can tell the fire resistant armor to "look" like the armor you like.  It will let you wear exactly the cosmetic armor you want, but maintain the specs of the armor you need.  Aside from two other games (one of which is bankrupt), there are no mmos out there that let you customize your armor to this degree.

    2.  Groves:  This lets you "terraform" in a way, your complete area of your home.  You can pick snow, desert, jungle, etc.  You can put in moutains, rivers, animals, dragons, etc.  It's your complete personal space to live in.   There isn't a mmo on the market that lets you do that.

    3.  Classes.  It may only have four classes, but it has different skills you can mix and match and build your own customized character with.  Shoot arrows and magic?  Heal and tank?  You name it, you can just about build it from scratch.  There isn't a mmo that lets you do that either.

    4.  The setting is EARTH.  It's earth in the future, after the fall of man.  Some landmarks still exist but we can explore earth of the future after the fall of civilization.  Any mmo's that let you do that?

I think you see my point.  This game CLEARLY has MANY new things to offer in both setting, equipment, customization, etc.

Ok for starters I am very excited about this game and can't w8 til OB. im very anxious..and annoyed that they wont tell us the exact date of release >.< ...but i also understand y they wont do that...although they did say "summer 2009" and summer is just about over, so it shall be here soon!! :D

    continuning on..

    2. Groves. ::Game- Runescape:: POH (player owned houses) everything u listed that u can do in groves...u can do in POH's.

however, if EE's system for placing objects inside the groves is similar to Runes of Magic's housing system, then groves will be waayy better than anything else i've seen.

3.Classes. ::Games- Runescape; Runes of Magic:: in runes of magic it is class based..but out of the classes u can choose to train 2 of the classes on 1 character, i know this is still limiting to what u can do..but it's the first game with classes that i had played that allowed u to do that...Runescape, there is no class system at all..u can be a jack-of-all-trades..u wanna get up close and personal with a shield and sword? go for it...u get bored of the hacking and slashing, try ur hand at firing some arrows at ur target from a distance...bored of both of those? try unleashing the rage of the elements on ur enemies...bored of any/all of those? try some combination of 2/3 styles..or even use all 3 styles at once, completely ur choice.

4.Future Earth. ::Game- Requiem Bloodymare:: now u can disagree with me on this one, and i'll completely understand y..as technically it's not what u said, but it also is...ur playing in a futuristic setting, and civilization was nearly destroyed, but due to science the survivors live to fight back for their lands...the story goes something along those lines, i dont remember all the exact details lol

  • lordpenquinlordpenquin Member Posts: 129

Actually the groves will be unlike anything we've ever seen before.  Most game that have housing has decorations you can litter your yard with but you can build the groves.  Put in trees, moutains, rivers, valleys, and populate it with wildlife.  Too bad we can't see them until launch, but they have said that they will be in on live release day.   I'm really looking forward to it because it will give me something to do for a while when I'm a little burned out on adventuring and crafting.  I can decorate using landmasses, lol.

  • ihaveurnoseihaveurnose Member Posts: 16

Don't get me wrong, Im definitely looking forward to the groves as well. As u said, it will be something fun to do if we get bored of training. I was just pointing out that there has been a game that allows u to pick what landscape ur house is (such as desert, jungle, etc.), as well as what type of material ur buildings r made out of. Also in the POH's for runescape they do allow u to put in monsters, trees, and "the works". However, i do hope that it's not like runescape's POH..as everything is preset, for example if u want to place in a certain tree..u have to build a garden, and then place the tree in a pre-designated location.

Don't forget Ryzom.  In Ryzom you can mix and match skills and even customize them to a great degree - also advance to max level in any skill/path tree.

However, I am looking forward to this game.

I'm definitely looking forward to this game. The graphics aren't quite as good as I'd like them to be, but they're absolutely amazing for a browser-based MMO. Some of the things I'm excited about:

Races: There are more races in this game than classes in Everquest 2, lol. It's rediculous. I've never seen that many races in one game, and it should add a significant amount of character and variety in the world. Plus, while I don't consider myself a furry, as far as MMOs go, I've always enjoyed playing the anthropomorphic races (Iksars, Vah Shir / Kerra, Tauren, etc.)... and in that respect, a lot of the races here look very interesting.

Groves: I like the idea of groves. I think it takes the idea of player housing and expands it to a whole new level (basically "player zones")!

Classes: I've played other games with multiclassing (Guild Wars, Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted, FFXI), but the way they're doing it in this one looks very interesting and different.

Free To Play: Unlike most F2P, the item mall in this game supposedly only sells things that you could get in game anyway, provided you put in enough time. That means players who spend money save time, rather than having free players that are horribly weak and limited compared to paying players, like most F2P item mall games.  Actually, because I don't feel forced to, I might actually use the item mall. Reverse psychology I guess. I don't plan on spending on it regularly, but we'll see.

Setting: This is a unique setting for an MMO. Atlantica has a semi-real world setting, but I think Earth Eternal incorporates it into the lore and the rest of the game better. The lore is interesting too.

Platforms: It can run on a Mac! YAY! Kinda bummed that it won't run on a Mac at release, but the fact that they're planning to do it shortly after is nice. Since it's browser based and not heavy graphics-wise, I can probably play it on my laptop until then.

Concerns: I'm worried that, since they are advertising it as a "family friendly" game, it will attract a lot of the younger crowd. This may or may not be a bad thing for me. We'll see.

I'm still trying to decide whether or not I like the style of graphics. Hmm...

On a side note, anyone know where I can get more info on the game other than what's on the official site? Some details have been mentioned in this thread which I have not found on the official site.

Edit: Also, being a family friendly game, and a free to play game, I might be able to play it with my little brother(s) :)

  • ihaveurnoseihaveurnose Member Posts: 16

All we know is that OB will be released summer 09...and for matt, sept 22 is the last day of summer. So OB will launch anytime between now and sept 22.

I look forward to playing this game also.  I dont have a high end pc and this game will definitly run well on my laptop.

The huge variety of races, large realistic world "sort of" , neat background story, well done colorfull graphics, nice class system and browser based.  Couldnt really ask for more in an mmorpg for those of us without the hardware or cash to play the bigger better games.

Been playin' it since closed beta started and I gotta tell ya.  This game kicks ass!  I've never played a game that lets you customize your character like this one does.  Plus, the fact that you have over 20 different races to choose from makes it even better, in my opinion. My main is a Longtail Knight, and I've actually been able to fashion him into a type of paladin.

Yeah, they have some bugs to work out, but that's the fun of being part of the beta tester team, you can let 'em know what needs to be changed here and there.

So, again, this game KICKS ASS!

'New' is a matter of opinion and to me, your opinion doesn't matter. It's the whole package that's new, not the individual components.

I'd love to hear what you'd say to a relative who told you she'd just given birth to a new baby "There's nothing new about it, loads of babies have got arms, legs, etc. Anyway, there's nothing lasting or immersive about babies, they just grow old anyway".

You seem to be good at commenting on things you know nothing about, which I suspect might be a lot.
