CO's character creator is a timesink. Which is awesome.

I really like CO's character creation. There are so many options, that it makes it kind of daunting trying to figure out what to go with if you're not deadset on an idea from the beginning.

Case in point, last night I started working on my toon's second outfit. The first outfit is assassin/ninja-ish and I love it. I didn't really have a solid idea for the second outfit, so I was trying different things out. Before I realized it, 2.5 hours had gone by and I was STILL trying to nail down something I really liked! That wouldn't be too big of a deal except after 2.5 hours, it was 3am and I had to work today. Doh!

Anyone else take this long to come up with something?

I'm pretty sure that I've spent more time on the character generation than I have playing the bloody game. I guess that says something for how well done the system is.

But now I have my "look" so I'm happy.

Or would be, if I could just decide on what power set, skills, abilities and stats I want to use. I should stick to class-based games; too many options is clearly bewildering after ~5 years of playing games with traditional character progressions.

It's always fun trying your new creation. Love the character creator also, so many options !

Yeah, I'm having fun with it.

I've made a few characters, although my main isn't as spectacular as the characters I make and delete.

    Groovy.

im slightly ashamed to admit i get a pretty good laugh at some of the 'random' costume combinations that come up....

some of the random one generated are pretty cool, though.

Man I spent most of my early start time in that damn character generator!  That was one thing I loved about CoH, and Cryptic has definitely improved on that.

One thing I noticed which I found particularly awesome: When you hit "random" for the colours of your costume, it always comes up with a set of colours that work very well together. I mean sometimes there can be an exception or two, but generally they all look awesome. I presume you're actually just randoming from a list of preset colour combos that they've put together, but still an awesome idea.

i too have spent much time tweaking and adjusting and rerolling costumes to find what i think perfectly suits powers for guys that wear power armor and shoot bows and use guns and fight with swords and sorcery.  i also like the game play with said heroes and powers afterwards =D

    character creator rawks.

I wonder if it would be possible for someone to create some standard templates, then export them and put them on a website?

I can save them for use locally, but I could see someone sharing a bunch of custom pre-mades.

Imagine if you could just import "Costume Sets" already pre-tweaked and then pick "Spartan Warrior" or "Jester" and customize/tweak it a little to make it your own?
