Random Quest Generator (poll)

MalakhonMalakhon Member UncommonPosts: 224

Question,

From a content perspective, we've all done Qualar invasion a dozen times by now at least if you've played the beta or this past week I am sure. At least on average. I am starting to dread the desert because I've seen the same quests.

I hear that at high levels there is some missing content.

So What if...

In addition to these storied arc missions, they added a mission generator. Something akin to the newspaper/radio in COH. Where you go to socrates, click on three choices for random missions.

"Go (location in this zone) and (defeat/collect/hypospray) ( X) number of (villains) for (Y) reward"

"Take down (villain name) at (location in this zone) for (Y) reward"

"Escort (npc name) out of (location in this zone) as it has (these kinds of villains) in it for (Y) reward"

Would that satisfy your needs?

What if there was more....

Imagine if you could go to the power-house, and then click on "Training Room" and you could pick any of your past dungeon/base missions (the radiocative mines etc) and replay them except the game just auto-levels your enemies?

You could do this without technically leaving the power house. I need more than just dummies to attack to test my defensive powers.

Add in the option "It's in a future update" because quite simply it will be there sooner or later.

Same as being able to create your own missions as some stage, infact everything you see in CoX will sooner or later be incorporated into CO and then some, which for me is no bad thing as it will incorporate the things I enjoyed about CoX.

Time is ofc just a factor for when we will see these additions but I'm positive it's already on some devs schedule calendar in some dark dusty cubicle at Cryptic.

They pretty much have something like this already with the citizens that come up and give you missions.  You can repeatedly get them in the desert around  levels 25 - 30 by saving civilians near the crater.  They'll just give you a door mission.  They have it happen somewhat randomly in MC and other levels as well.

The random mission generation thing is probably the main reason I dislike Anarchy Online. I don't think any game would be improved by such an addition. It becomes very boring very quickly especially when you spend more time getting to and from the mission than actually doing anything.

That would be great except that the xp for doing them is 25% of a normal quest so it is hardly worth the time to run to the opposite side of the zone and do the task..  Also they could use more variety.  Most of them are basically 3 rooms long.  But none the less if they bupped up the xp and added more scripting these citizen missions are better then having a random mission generation booth.
