Do i need a key to play ?

Hi guy's this is a nob question,

Do i need a key to play open beta ?    I presumed open beta meant anyone could play, but on the forums iv'e seen post saying " need key for open beta please "

As this is going to take me 3 days to download,  i wondering if im wasting my time if i need a key to play ?

    Yea unfortunately the "open" beta which is staring Sunday requires a key.

    I wouldn't mind trying it out in Open Beta for fun. But I failed to get one of the many free keys on various gaming site.

    It is next to impossible now. *sigh*

     

    edit: just wanted to add that fileplanet only has / had keys for the US. If you are from EU you need an EU key.

    Why you would call this open beta is beyoned me, should be Private beta where give away a few keys and let you fight for um.

    The only way is to pay fileplanet, fuk that ill wait till its in the shops, i would preorder but after AoC & WAR youcan  fuk that  idea off.

    I wonder if Aion is simply so popular that they are afraid they can't handle the volume of all those who want to play. I have downloaded the client too hoping I will find a key.

    Am curious to see what everyone is raving about.. I guess I won't get to play.... c'est la vie..

    Open Beta Testing is a Server Stress and Pre-launch Stability test that is open to the public.  A demo is what most people mistake for an OBT because most games do it that way, but that is not the truth.

    OBT Keys were handed out in PUBLIC where anyone can grab it, which already fulfilled the only requirement for being an OBT.  They also announced it several times, and forums have several threads of these OBT keys the past few days.

    I understand you feel pissed for missing out, but OBT is not the same thing as a Demo.  Maybe there will be more announcements for more free to grab OBT keys before the 6th, who knows.

    Yea unfortunately the "open" beta which is staring Sunday requires a key.
    I wouldn't mind trying it out in Open Beta for fun. But I failed to get one of the many free keys on various gaming site.
    It is next to impossible now. *sigh*
     
    edit: just wanted to add that fileplanet only has / had keys for the US. If you are from EU you need an EU key.

    That is also one issue I am thinking of, because I know alot of people will at least want to try out Aion for free even if they don't plan on playing it.  Which might end up making OBT a heck of a mess when thinking about just how many people will be trying to play OBT if it is completely open.

    I can understand them not allowing everyman and he's dog to play, but what realy gets me is , how many people have got these keys who have no desire to play Aion ever, ie the people who have never paid to play a game.

    Its like 70% of the shit post you get on these sites full of  idiots who flame a game into the ground but then you get to find out from there other posts they are 14 with no bank account, how many of them are going to play Aion this weekend.

    They should give the people who realy want to play the game a key, ie ill give um my credit card details, becuase i want to try before i buy, if the spotty, pot smoking 14 year old hoody wants a key then let him steal hes dads.

     i too got 12 hours into the download before i started reading that you need a key to play open beta. not worth the wait for a download. I'll just wait to see other reviews before i make my decision to buy it.

    Well, it does seem like some people doesn't know the difference between OBT and Demo/Trials is why they are screaming about OBT using keys.  So yeah, blah, some really doesn't know.

    Open beta means open to the public not F2P.  They already sent out keys to the public, so it means it is open to the public.  OPEN BETA TESTING.  End of story.

    How those sites distributed those keys is another story all together, they used OBT keys and made it you would have to register or subscribe to get it.  Which I am not sure is what NCsoft had in mind exactly when they give out those key codes, I am sure NCsoft wanted to limit the traffic of OBT using keys, but I think those sites also used those keys to promote their subscription.

    I got an extra key from an Italian site (from the list of Aions website)....

    This happened to me too!!!, I spent 3 days downloading the client to realize you need a key to play :(. Does anyone have an extra key to spare?, I would be greatly appreciated, I really wanted to try this game before buying it.
