Got in open beta and rolled my healer and started questing. my first question is why everytime i can cast a spell my toon say "despener" or "gevenpek"? I was really disappointed and cancelled my order and deleted the game. This open beta is nothing more than a preview to the game. I didn't mind the lag, I knew we would have some of that but the game I played is the game that it will be, and it's not a very good one. Just hearing despener and gevenpek everywhere i went in the first zones was enough for me, bye bye Aion, thanks for totally disappointing me

Kinda funny that your own character's voice made you delete the game.
Too late now but just FYI you can turn off the voice.. yup.

You play an MMO where your character doesn't make any sound? Mime, the MMORPG?
There are different voices and different classes... Just throwing that out there. But if having your character talk ruined the game for you then you best just stay away from this title because the NPCs talk too.

"Despenser" and "Gevenpek" are foul words that shouldn't be spoken on these forums. You should have just said that everyone was speaking the "forbidden words"!
Seriously though, I hear you on that... The voices are one of the more annoying parts of the game, and they don't put much emotion into the words when they are spellcasting.
On the other hand, I personally would never quit the game over something like that. It certainly isn't a "game breaker" for me. I don't think the whole thing is lousy just because of some so-so voices.
I'm just waiting for a F2P overhyped sandbox WoW clone with full PVP, epic raid bosses, instanced group content, and Crysis-quality graphics to come out. That, or something fun.
lol, yes i know you can turn it off but you can't go around asking everyone else to turn theirs off
so sad. And really i didn't want to flame about how bad i disliked other parts of this game so i just used that as an example. I hope everyone has fun in Aion and enjoys their time there, but i will not be, just not for me.
I have to say.. This didn't really jive well with me either. The priest has one damage spell until level 5 I think.. They use the same sound byte for the spell.. You cast it at least twice per mob. For the Asmodian male it's "Agg-rare-oh!" and it's the same exact "Agg-rare-oh!" each time. It does get very old.. very quick. But I beleive you *CAN* turn off the voices. They could have at least used 3 or 4 different versions of "Agg-rare-oh!" and have them be randomly selected. The same pronounciation with different inflection/tone can make a world of difference.
It turns all player voices off, so you wouldn't have had to hear other players spout spellcasting words either.
If this game isn't your cup of tea, though, sorta sucks because not much on the horizon but.. good luck and have fun out there.

Or you could have gone into the sound options and ticked the box marked "Mute Combat Casting Sounds" and never hear it again. But alas, we will not miss you.

You wouldn't understand
Actually as a part of the character customization you can change the voices (from about 5-6 different presets). You may want to look at that.
However many voices of NPCs or ability activation are standard and very Asian. I mention this a lot in my Aion Review ...if you have trouble immersing yourself in the gameworld (character voices included), you will not stay with Aion long

Or you could try get the korean voices maybe they are better.
The Korean voices were 100 million times better. You can still hear the Korean counterparts in some of the cutscenes.

That's a matter of opinion, I can't stand the screechy sounds. I've turned off all of the voices, glad there is that option. Actually I've turned off the music as well. I'm very disappointed in the voices and music in this game.
So out of all the things you could have chosen to explain your dislike for Aion, you choose a petty reason. Why post?
Not a good excuse. Casting voices can be turned off, not just yours... everyones. Alas if something like that turns you off I can't see you staying anyway. I just argue you didn't voice your true reason for disliking the game.

OMG how can you possibly say that????I personally think the music in this game is BRILLIANT!
Let me add a little, i know you can turn off voices, but it was just one thing that got under my skin. The casting and fighting felt like the game was helping me way to much, no skill at all. Too far from target, well the game just moves you forward and cast the spell for you. Want to hit something, just target it and the game will follow your target for you and attack it. No open world, i want to run around and go into areas and explore. The game doesn't really let you do that, it tells you, go down this road and get these quest, level up and move on. Me and a buddy got on at the same time, i said i'm standing here next to this dude that gives you the quest, the farmer dude, where are you. He says i'm right here too, where are you. WTF is this AOC, omg noooo someone help me, channels, what? channels you arent in my channel? wtf is a channel? what? i'm next to the farmer dude in another channel, o god nooo (yes i know its only for the first 20 levels). The world is pretty, toons are pretty and everything but really i just don't see aion getting like huge. Yes it will have a following, kids will play this game and flame and general chat will be very bad just like it was during ob the first couple of hours i was on. I hope people that do play will enjoy it and have a blast, god knows we all need another game out here that is at least ok. So now everyone knows its not just the voices that is keeping me from playing Aion, but its a big part of it because i couldn't stop laughing at how stupid it was

So and let me see If I follow and make sure we are on the same page. All of the things that bother you have options to disable and you know after level 20 every zone is open so this is no longer a problem....are your major gripes?
