Hmmm which class?

TartayTartay Member Posts: 43

Ive been leveling a glad for the most part and have liked it.  Ive seen videos of level 50 templars and such and the melee looks like a blast at higher levels.  I guess i am taking into account 2 things when picking my toon for release.  I think ive narrowed it down to 2 classes, glads and sorcs.

I wonder:

1)Which class will be less populated. I hate playing overpopulated classes.

2)It looks like melee is a ton of fun and lots of quick button mashing.  Is end game casting as captivating or is it the normal click a button, wait for it to cast, press it again, wait for it to cast, throw an occasional CC out there and repeat.

Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated.

    Hmm

    1) I ran a poll on classes and its pretty even so far, much to my surprise:

In game, I see the most assassins and clerics and the fewest chanters and rangers. That may be a Beta thing. I hear that Korean servers have overwhelming numbers of assassins.

    2) I don't know about end game, but do keep in mind that the two Priest subsets wear heavy armor and do significant melee damage as well as casting.

I expect the majority of players to be assassin and rangers ...stealth has a tendency to bring the most players. Rangers seem underpopulated because they are difficult to level up. But Ive little doubt they will flourish.

Of the two, I wager the temps will be fewer than the sorcs.

In the end, play what you like.

Hmm I will probably just end up rolling a glad like I originally thought even though it looks as though they will be one of the more overpopulated classes.  Maybe ill choose a templar, they seem like they do pretty decent damage and can take one heck of a beating.

I am kind of in a toss up between Assassin and Gladiator at the moment. I have been leveling them equally and comparing their damage output/survivability/coolness factor.

Caster/ranged classes never really suit me, as I like to be in the middle of the fight.

Aion is the first game that ever made me consider being a priest, however, as the new character screen features some really sweet looking armor for that particular class.

I will likely end up having both Assassin and Gladiator max level after release, if I find myself really enjoying the endgame. But which one first?!? Arrrggghhh! Indecision is agony!

what is the damage difference between the 2 classes that uve seen so far? and how much more surviv do glads have?

To be honest, Gladiator just has downright more HP, which means more survivability. But in terms of fighting mobs, the Assassin just lays them down to rest much faster.

Try both like I have, and you'll have a better idea of what I mean when you see them side by side.

You know, aside from flight, Aion isn't very innovative. But the two Priest classes, Chanter and Cleric, really are intriguing and new.

They're more of a (forgive the Final Fantasy reference, please) red mage class? They wear heavy armor like melee classes, do casting, healing, and buffing just fine, and use actual melee weapons pretty well. I leveled Chanter faster than any other class because not only could I take more damage than an assassin or ranger (with heavier armor), but I could heal myself, cast pretty hefty offensive spells, and use a hammer.

I'm sure if you're in a party you are pretty much dedicated to buffing and healing, but if you had more than one of member of the two classes in your party, you'd do pretty well, too.

    (EDIT: typos)

Yeah, I guess I just have this view on casters as physically weak and generally ranged, and I have always liked something that gets into the fray, and deals damage while simultaneously looking good.

Maybe I will give a Chanter a shot. You sell them pretty well!

I am a creature of habit, so I never really step outside the box when it comes to gaming, but this may be a good chance to see what is outside my comfort bubble.

Chanter seems pretty popular, dunno why.

    I'm enjoying a gladiator personally
