RuneTek 5 Game Engine

I think this was an update long overdue.  Though I do not think it compensates for the other broken game mechanics, I think this was the best update they have done in quite some time.

Of course there are some glitches as is expected after they implement updates, as far as I can tell this one has been implemented fairly smooth.  The larger screen space and full screen options really open up the world and take away that " boxy" feel the game has always had. The new bar placement and transparent chat box have a much better feel to it than the old style, and hope they continue to do " good" updates  in the future.

I also noticed the " open tab" on the bar, and am wondering what they are intending to put in that empty space. I am sure it is there for a reason.

Though this graphix update still did not give the  faceless noobs faces, it was a good improvement to the game.

They also destroyed summoning, herblore, TMD’s(as well as making other spots impossible), 90+% of ranging spots, and 90+% of safe spots in the process. I don’t consider a game engine update as a content update since you’re not really getting any new playable content. I think if you count up all the missed updates(they market that they have an update a week) would amount to over three months of missed updates this year so far. Looks like the new CEO is doing an even worse job then the last one.

Agreed it was a good update, but as you said, it was LONG overdue. With this update though, it seems like they are going to be done with the graphics for awhile. They might start to focus on more "important" issues that are overdue, but with jagex who knows....

Personally I feel like it was a waste of an update. There was much larger things that need to be improved over this update which still hasn't done much to the graphics compared to what I hoped it would. That's Jagex for you.

Well.. I tried to say something nice. C'mon people, Jagex isn't giving me much to work with. LOL

We must understand that the engine is still the same. No matter how they try to hype this "rune tek" updated, it is STILL based on Java. Plus, the only thing I see is the layout of the buttons and a minor increase in the screen size. Hell, I don't see them using "crytek" engine technology. I don't see them using havok physics or fraunhofer mp3 encoding. I don't see a difference or at least 3 different methods in the way I cut trees, mine rocks, craft runes...etc. I don't see a changed in controls either. it's still the same clicky stuff. So in a nutshell I would call it a MINOR layout overhaul.

And YES it was long overdue. Plus, don't fall for the latest rumor that mod MMG is gonna port runescape to the psp. It's just one of those rumors a bunch of pre-teen shits made to cover up the bad side of the game. Still, that is just a small part of what's going on. Prepare for more.

PS. Runetek sounds like a ripoff of Crytek. IS jagex really that desperate?!

RS Classic and i believe the first 3d-esque build afterwards were the best tbh.

Better that there isn't fine detailing then there is but it looks sloppy or something from the n64, imo.
