Ok, so I used to play this game a while back (6months or so ago - could be a bit longer...)
I'm not currently playing an mmo title and I remember Eve being really fun. I remember the learning curve was steep too.
Sadly I reactivated my account to discover that I don't remember anything as far as how to play the game!!!!
I've been training some skills but, that's about it.
I can't join the noob channel because I'm technically not a noob but, I want back in the noob channel!!!!
Oh well, I cancelled my account and now I just login, train, logout, wait for account to expire and look forward to other mmo potentials...

Rather than just lamenting that you "can't get back in the noob channel", did you try to do anything to educate yourself?
These days the tool to use is eve HQ ( http://www.evehq.net )
Also there is Eve University ( http://www.eve-ivy.com/ )
Which is an entire university devoted to teaching people how to play eve to it's fullest.
Rather than just giving up, perhaps you could try again?
Join the Help channel. Re-do the tutorials (Esc -> Reset settings -> reset the tutorial settings).
Look at some player corporations who are noob-friendly. Join their public channels or, better yet, join them.

Well I'm not going to diss the Eve community because if anything they are helpful. I remember one time I was doing a mission that had a high yield item - someone somehow scanned for my mission, warped in, killed me - took the loot and took off. I said in general that it was highly discouraging to a new person for someone to do that - basically explode the ship I had worked hard for etc... He mailed me enough funds to get my ship back and helped me with many in game issues there after.
And you 2 that just posted offered super helpful non-troll type advise too. The community in Eve is better than any mmo community I've played with (I've played many mmorpgs).
Just based on that I feel like giving it another go - maybe I'll do some heavy research first lol!
Thanks for the info!!
Cool I'm not playing right now (internet at my place sucks at the moment), but EVE is by far the best MMO I've experienced, for the gameplay as well as the community. Even though it's "cut-throat", almost everyone is super helpful :P
And to assist you on your way, I recommend you start with this guide as a great kickstart.

And since you really can never read enough guides in EVE (I still do it 2+ years after starting) here's a great one on Everything Wormholes, the latest addition to EVE in your absence:

but, just in case you thought mining might be a great idea this time around edit: version 3.0)

There's a really good mission running channel which you can share your experiences with friends and sometimes even get an assist (or help others) in a mission. Name escapes me right now, but if you'd like to know send me a PM here and I'll look it up for you when I get home.
Speaking of which, great advice given above, join a noob training corp ASAP. There's a recruiting channel you can join in EVE, or you can look here for one that suits your purpose.

if you want to get back into the newbie channel you can make a new character and use that to relearn things.
failing that, ask questions in this thread and ill try to answer them.
The channel you mention is called "helpmymission". Really helpful bunch of guys, and there is always someone in that channel ready to answer your questions or give you a hand if you are stuck in a particular mission.
They have a small webpage with some info, but the best thing is to just join the channel.
In any case, as someone said above, do join one of the teaching corps like EvE University (there are a few otrhers but this one is the best known), join for a few weeks at least. These teaching corps are newby friendly and won't scam you, on the contrary.
Being in a corp really changes the game. Most players do not start enjoying EvE until they join one.
