Why do korean mmo characters look "Gay"?

Why do korean mmo characters look "gay" or metrosexual? Because they're made in korea. Plain and simple. You may think it sounds a bit racist but its true. If you go on everyones favorite website(google) and search for korean men or korean models your find people that look just like this guy:Karos online character(most korean mmo ever)

It's korean fashion. Korean mmo's start in...well korea. So they have to appeal to their local population; Koreans. So the characters are something that they can relate to from the hair style right down to holding their swords over their sholders(they do that in school you know) Then when they try to break cultural barriers and come to the west their slicked down hair and massive swords aren't recieved well by all players from east coast to west coast. They find that their player is a bit metrosexual...well I'm sorry. That's just the way koreans are. They're not metrosexual but they do look like this guy. Now ofcourse they try to appeal to the west with different hairstyles and nice character creator that lets you create a non-homo man. But he still puts his hand on his hip when he stands.Sigh* i guess some things will never change eh? Atleast we have beefy Western MMO's like Age of Conan that make us look like hunky barbarians that want to "Kill boar-eat boar- shit boar-eat boar again" and wear loin cloths. So please please please try not to complain about korean mmos metrosexual males. Though I strongly believe that there is one guy in Korea who does all of the artwork for all of the korean mmo companies...His name is probably something like Fu Pen(just kidding).

MMO's are the ark of the gaming world. Let it take us in new directions.

I giggled a lil' bit while reading this, but I have nothing against korean character models. In both L2 and Aion I think they look quite decent. Grind in old L2 on the other hand....

personally i find the characters from korea better looking, its much cooler screw realism its an mmo. Seriously though all the male characters in most american games are like over the top bodybuilders, huge hands and ugly faces.

Supermodel orcs! Elves with donkey ears that pose when they stand idle! Bikini armor that looks exactly the same in every Asian grinder! AWESOME.

Seriously, you couldn't pay me to play an Asian MMOG. It doesn't get any lamer.

Korean MMO characters look "gay" because most MMO players are immature children whos vision of the world has been tinted by the machismo laden society/group they lives in.

Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

They dont look gay you are just homophobic. Or trying to troll Aion, or both.

It’s more of a cultural thing, they base it one more of an Asian style

aion models dont look gay..... hell some of the faces in aion look downright MEAN..... the way fighters stand in aion makes them look like they are ready to fucking break you in half....

Anime has its appeal, but some times I get tired in all games of the oversized weapons, armor, and gear.  Wish at times they would go for a more realistic approach.  If they did that then the special armor would really stand out more.

I would say that the way he used Gay or Queer is appropriate.  Homosexuals can not have it both ways(no pun intended).  they like to chant "were here were queer" and then dress in very feminine way.  You think you are then only ones that can use the word.  Be a human...stop the PR crap.  If you hate the word GAY or Queer when used to reference the way many...not all...homosexuals protray themselves to the majority of society then stop dressing that way.  There are times when those words are use to profane someone, but to describe a style Gay or Queer is ok.

its AZN styles. Its cultural based on their media with some western influences.

I can say the same about white or black people, how come white people try to be black with the baggy jeans down at the ass crack like black people. You're not "gangster", you're just white. wigger. roffles.

See what I did there? Cultural differences. You play a korean game, you should expect Korean cultural and media influence. cumb dunt. w

To be even moe specific the OP should refer to the visual appearance of Korean (and other Asian) MMO's by the word Bishounen.

Bishounen literally means "pretty boy," as in an attractive member of the male gender. Also spelled "bishonen," and sometimes shortened to "bish" and "bishie/bishy." It is a Japanese word, adopted by female anime fans in the rest of the world to denote any male anime, manga, or video game character they happen to find good looking. Strictly speaking, "bishounen" should only refer to boys under age 20, since a "pretty man" would be "biseinen." However, most people prefer to use bishounen for men and boys of all ages, as it is so widely used.

I wouldn't say 'Gay' because, really, what does 'Gay' look like?! Seriously...

I will say that some of the male characters in Asian-created games seem more feminine in their appearance to me. I remember a few shots of Sephiroth that could have been a girl doing a shampoo commercial.

I think it may be that their are fewer physical differences between the genders. I am an american and I see a great variety of people each day. For example, most men I see have coarser skin, a more noticable beard line, larger pores on their nose and cheeks, maybe a stronger jaw, thicker necks.

One might argue that asain men are 'prettier' but that really comes down to personal taste. Someone posted some pix of male asain models, and to me they do appear more femenine that that of a dark-haired, tan model with a chin that could sink the Titanic. But, thats because that is your 'Average male' appearance where I have lived my whole life.

I wonder if asain men and women look at us and think we look like cavemen lol.

    Its all relative.

Didn't i see a thread an hour or two ago about this exact same thing except using the word effeminate instead of gay.Seriously i am sure there atleast 5 other threads you can post in saying oh hey guys i agree with the OP from this thread instead of starting another one?

Like pong i keep bouncing back and forth between games.

Ah yes, nobody does androgeny better then those guys.  Many a time I've walked past a few of them and wondered if it was a man or a woman.  Then I just realize that most of the time I'd rather not know and just keep walking.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

Yes, the style gets old real fast. What happened to games like Final Fantasy VI and the ones before it? I know it's not a MMORPG but it felt way "less asian" than anything else.

     EFFEMINATE

Thats a new word for me!

I have always reacted that the Asian characters always look like they are 14 years old. Like small pop stars or something.

Think if the movie "The Good, The Bad and Ugly had the main characters looked like 14 instead of 45? Not cool at all.

If you dont see it grandpa then you better take off the rose colored glasses, the characters in this game are as close to a gay fashion show as you can get.  I'm pretty sure your the one thats trolling.

Me and most of my friends are all very heavy MMO players and if there is one thing we can all agree on is this game has the gayest character models yet in MMO.  I've tried to play it a couple times and just cant stomach it.

Whoa somebody didnt' read the post. The OP is actually defending the character models and put "gay" in quotes because OTHER people use that term to insult the asian art style, not the OP.

Real life brings repetition and pointlessness too. The only thing real life offers is Great graphics. Its kinda expensive too and way to dependent on the cash shop. Totally pay to win as well. No thank you. Ill stick to my games.
