I was playing with the character creator on a soon to be released game and
I said to myself, wow that's a girl. It wasn't even remotely male. It was crazy.
There have been studies done that say men with more feminine features are found to be more attractive in general. I think western media overembellishes manly features.

Did ya ever take a look at the concept art for FF games pre 7? If the graphics technology was available they all would have had rather effeminate looks to them for most male characters.
Look at traditional asian art and culture? Much of it is rather effeminate to western audiences though they'd probably consider it something else.

That wasn't exactly the outcome of those studies.
Basically, the studies determined that men mostly prefer very femenine females and women mostly prefer something in the middle of the masculine range.

NO such thing as someone "looking" gay, unless you stereotype individuals. Most Asian MMO characters are "androgynous", not "gay-looking". Just thought I'd state that.

It's not only Korean, Japanese too. They makes male with feminine qualities. Such male with feminine quality is welcome and quite acceptable by women. Take a look at fashion industries, top fashion designers ......they all have feminine qualities.
I think this type of gay looking is not welcome by gamers except your a female or gay. If the game makes the male too pretty than a woman and too young, it is terrible if your going to play this toon everyday.

Ehh... I guess thats kinda true... but then again, if style = looking like a girl then I'd personally would choose to be unstylish. Because having female traits doesn't at all seem appealing.
Luckally I tend to pick female characters in my MMO's so since the female toons look half naked most the time. It works for me.

The word you're looking for is effeminate or androgynous, which is the case throughout Asia, not really Korea -- either way, it worked for an Asian friend of mine =D He got more ass than a toilet seat =P
On the note of character models, Aion look quite good, a very good mix of east and west =D. You can choose from both, really ~

I know the trueth in that. My Japanese friend gets tail like nothing. But at the same time Asian women tend to have sex cravings like no other. When in Japan myself, it wasn't the least bit diffcult to get someone to sleep with you. (even getting 2 or 3 people is possible the same night)

I totally agree with the OP, when trying out Asian MMO's it seams that the majority of male characters always seem to have a "metrosexual" look to them.
Why can't we get some good old fashion duke nukems in our MMO's? Lol.

I bet a good looking Western dude would get a ton of women in the east. Why would a majority of the opposite sex be attracted to someone who looks like they do? Brad Pitt, Wolverine dude, Cloney ect don't look like a female at all too me. I have never been attracted to women who look manly. If they have small breats or a man face, no thanks.

I had a 23 year old Japanese Girlfriend when I was 16 in high school while living in Northern Japan. It was great! She bought me clothes and skateboards, took my virginity, and all she wanted in return was for me to bring her onto the military base so she could eat some BURGER KING. no joke - lmfao
all the American chics at my high school despised me for that but I didn't really care. =P

I had a bunch of buddies (black guys and white dudes), these guys would clean house, and always take chics home from nightclubs in ruppungi red light district in Tokyo, and all the stripclubs/nightclubs in Honolulu, HI as well.
