Gaming overheating black scrrenening GTYX 285.

Hi folks.

Just started playing this game. Have to say its a pleasant experience. The thing i find annoying  is trhe fact that this game is overheating and crashing my GTX 285 gpu. I run the graphic settings at very high and my GPU temp goes past 80c. All other games that i have played that are far more graphic intensive Crysis, Far Cry 2, AIion, etc my GPU usyually operates at 60c. Just wandering whats going on as i am running the latest 190 nvidia driver.

Thanks for any advice.

It's actually a lot more graphic intensive than you think, especially with very high settings.

I'd recommend just turning your video card fan up. 30% to 60% fan speed on my ATI card made huge differences in graphic intensive games.

Well, that is not good. The higher 200 cards can get pretty hot. There are ways of fixing this of course.

You could just tune the fan up of course but it is likely that the whole computer is rather hot inside.

I would reccomend you to get some more fans for the box also.

One of the things that really overheats the computer is many harddrives. They tend to get really hot then, killed a 7900 card that way once. If you have you should consider some way to gool them down a little too.

But the guy over me is right, you should raise the speed of the fan.

Thank for the info guys. ATM i have a Therlatake Spedo case so case cooling is not an issue . I have bumped my GPu to 80% fan speed with EVGA precision , i think that helps.

    Cheers.

Try the fan speed at 69% as at 70 and above it tends to make a noise that can be more distinctly heard. I have 3 each at 69% fan duty. When I orginally had 1 285 running at 722/1520/2642 the temps in the games you mentioned for me never got above 65 degree C.

    Just my recommendation.

I don't know why they have a default of 40%. Weird eh.
