Was wondering if there are any Diablo 2-ish MMORPG's?

Hello, I as wondering if there are any Diablo 2-ish MMORPG's? I just typed quite a long post but the forum magically deleted it. So act like this is a long post because I can't be arsed to type it again.


Is there any MMORPG even remotely close to what Diablo 2 used to be? Great item system, good character ability customization, fantastic necromancer class? I'm | | so close away from installing Diablo 2 again, then I realized the horror the community, the cheating, the scamming, etcetera was. So I was wondering if there are any MMORPGs close to what Diablo 2 was, since I've played a lot and am burned out of the Everquest type-ish MMORPG's. I know WoW is quite similar, but I was wondering if there's anything that's even closer to Diablo 2? Probably not, but doesn't hurt to ask.

    Does it have necromancers that can raise skeletons from dead foes, and thus the necromancer is able to amass an army of like, 30 skeletons?


    Thought not ;) Closest thing WoW has is the Warlock, which, in itself, it a cool class too.

    well in my opinion wow sux, thats rite i sed it, it sux muahaha, dont stick to 1 game dude, move around, i hav tested so many games i cant remember all of them, most only for a couple of days becus they wer that bad, others for along time, but i spent bowt 8 hrs dloading wow played for 10 mins then stopped, u shud check out ryl NA, ROSE online, em...u shud sign up for CoH beta aswell, just look about, thats wat i do, dont stick to 1 game

    I've played many, many MMORPG's, mostly all following the EQ model.


    I enjoyed Star Wars Galaxies (before the hologrinding, buffs, player cities etc. When the game was still quite hard) most. And ofcourse Diablo 2 for the 5 months I played that, but that isn't really a MMORPG.


    Seriously, right now I'm even getting slightly interested in Lineage 2. Awk!

    you want Guildwars.  This is as close to Diablo as your going to get in a sorta mmorpg style form.  You can summon skeletons and all that just like from Diablo, in fact it has many of the same exact characteristics Diablo had, and is also PvP-based like Diablo online was. 

    I wouldnt reccomend any of the typical mmorpg's, they wont fit better than Guildwars in terms of what your looking for.  In fact if you didnt know already, Blizzard had a somewhat mass exodus of Devs awhile back, and they formed the company that is doing Guildwars.  And im pretty sure these are largely the same Devs that did the original Diablo, which is why its so Diablo-like.

    Check out MU Online. its in the game list here. It has that isometric view that diablo has except its a bit dull when it comes to gameplay. But there is thousands of people playing it so give it a try.

    Oooh. So the diablo crew is doing guildwars, and the original Warcraft team WoW? Or not like that at all, just a bunch of old Diablo veterans working together on Diablo incarnated?

    Anyway, I looked into Guildwars, and yeah seems pretty good. Too bad it'll be so EXTREMELY long before its released.

    i liked the first beta of guildwars where everyone would fight on the same map...now they are doing it mission style wich i hate...mission style is like CoH and that killed CoH and it will kill Guildwars...how can there be "guild wars" if your guild is too big to become a team.

    What are you talking about?  Guild Wars has always been about instanced missions, and was never a persistant world.

    The game you are definately looking for is Guildwars.  I play as a necromancer and I do just what you mentioned, summoning skeletons from my fallen foes and creating a horde of undead minions.  It's the greatest.  The pvp is awesome and the quests are quite good as well.  I must admit, Guildwars is hard to classify as an MMORPG because it is so much like Diablo 2.  Either way, I still like it alot.  And you won't have to wait too long.  As a matter of fact, 3 days from now you'll be able to beta test it again.  Hope to see you in-game. image

    Helbreath seems a lot like Diablo 2. Is it like Diablo 2? Only like a UO-style MMORPG?

    ALOT of gamers are waiting for Guild Wars.  Bunch of my friends who are playing WoW now are going to cancel it or sooner most likely, when Guild Wars comes out.

    Bonus its going to be no monthly fee.
