Will this game be another game where you are glued to the floor like in the original KOTORs and in many fail MMOs?
For example. Oh look, I'm slightly elevated above that ditch I need to get to. What's this? I'm walking into an invisible wall? Guess I need to walk around HALF THE FREAKING MAP just to get to a place I could just jump down into. Guild Wars has some very nice examples of these.

No, there will be no bunny hopping in SWTOR.
I don't think they have specifically shown jumping. But I am 90% sure they will have it in the game. Although I can't find the article I believe it was confirmed in an early interview. Also if you watch the gameplay videos you will notice they can lunge (using skills though) off of balconies, stairways, and even jetpack in the air. And with the way heroengine works I imagine that not only will jumping be in, but swimming and climbing too.
Hope so. Though, you kind of did lunge in the original KOTORs. Yet you were still glued to the floor.

Here you go. http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/816935/bioware-mmo-project/videos/gcom09_oldrepublic_spc2_082109.html This shows the smuggler falling off from on top of something, although not technically jumping, the game obviously does a have a falling mechanic in place which would tend to suggest jumping as well.
Ahh yeah. Think I watched this but never noticed that. Though wasn't that big of a fall. Does lead to suggest there will be a z axis in the game. Thanks for pointing that out.
It's one of the things that drive you crazy when you're in a 3d world and yet you're stuck on a 2d axis.
Does give hope for the game as I've been watching it intently. I have a few concerns about it as do many others, but eager to try it out. Hoping it will be a legitimate choice for a Sci-fi MMO to replace WoW with.

I could care less about replacing WoW. I think in the end Blizzards new IP will be the only thing to bring down that behmoth. I am looking forward to TOR and GW2 mainly. I just want them to make a great MMO.
The game has jetpacks for bounty hunters so obviously they aren't stuck glued to the floor. I'd be surprised if there was no jumping.
Yes it has been confirmed by a developer on their forums that you can jump in the game.
Thats good, it would of sucked if you Can't Jump.
many fail mmo's?!?
i think more mmo's have failed that include the jump feature than ones that havnt
Refer to the above quote from a developer that was taken from this thread. So, yes, you'll be able to jump in the game. (I'm glad, personally.)
Jump? You can do more then jump... you can FLY! Or... at least the bounty hunter class can....
well how esle would you be able to ruin someones epic dialogue cut scene by bunny hopping around behind them ..yay for jump..when i go out now down the street im going to hop and jump every few moments also without purpose!
You can't, it's a cut scene.
You can't, it's a cut scene.
True!
Kids and Teens my have a problem whit this game... Hope it'll success and make over a million but not challange Wow....I don't want those into this game....... 1- 3 millions subs would be just fine!!!
It is interesting that they haven't displayed this in any of the videos. I'm sure it has already been put in. And it's always so tempting to just hit the space bar while running from point A to point B. lol
Jedis have a wealth of force powers in the canon, and 'force jumping' is included in that package.
Can't imagine it would be different here.
EDIT: Well, I CAN imagine it, but that wouldn't make sense to me.
