Dragon Oath Pre-Closed Beta - Features

wincylo2602wincylo2602 Member Posts: 2

Dragon Oath recently released a 2nd round of PCB Keys, and my partner and I were lucky enough to snag a couple of keys.

This game offers a good variety of features like:

Quests: Quest System in this game is better than most MMO's I've played with the Auto NPC tracking. Quests received on 1 map generally can be completed within the same map, unlike some MMO's where you pratically have to go to every map in game to complete 1 quest. It also features class quests which are easy to do and you get EXP and money (3k up to 10k EXP per completed quest) as well as each completed class quest earns you class contribution points, which you can use to exchange for class items.

Grinding: In terms of leveling this game so far reasonable. I've played for about 4 days and without really even playing too much I've reached lvl38. Plus it gives you 5hrs worth of 2x Exp per week. It also has a daily lotto draw which also gives EXP.

Life Skills: Got an extensive range of life skills to learn, such as Cooking, Fishing, Herbalism, Pharmacy and much more.

Pet System: By far one of the most interesting aspect of this game. You can teleport to Pet Island and tame pets to help you fight. Now you'll prolly think if you tame the same type of mobs the stats are same for each one, well think again. Every mob (even same kind) is unique in it's stats, fighting style, rarity, skills available, and intelligence. This is where most players will be spending there time perfecting.

Mounts: Each of the nine classes has it's own unique mount. Once players get to lvl40 they can learn to ride their class mounts from Trainer in each respective class area.

Skills learning/upgrading: Skills are leveled up using EXP points (yes, same EXP points used to lvl your Char up) Which means really you can learn all your class skills provided you're willing to grind or do quests and have gold of course (nothing is free ^.^)

Marriage System: Well my partner and I recently got married in game and I've provided some screenies of the wedding parade.

I hope this provided a bit of info for those who wanted to try the game, go to http://do.us.changyou.com for the Official Site. Cya in game.

One of this games' features: Bait and switch.

Tried to get a key... Went to one of their sponsor sites... that site showed that "1 keys remaining" but when you tried to signup to get that one key... they key was unattainable... then the NEXT tuesday, OOPS... No keys given out that week. I'm quite sure that they KNEW on FRIDAY of the week before that that would be the case. TOO bad that they couldn't be HONEST about that before people waited in lines to get disappointed once again.

Perhaps when they finally get to "OPEN BETA" they just might  figure out how to resolve it!

So how is one to PRETEST the game for themselves to see if it is really worth playing or not?

The game seems like it has promise, but it needs a lot more polish, in my opinion. I'm a bit of a stickler for language, and it's pretty obvious this game wasn't localized very well from the moment you log into it.

And is it just me, or is it really annoying trying to read the Courier or Times New Roman, or whatever serif font they have there? They're not alone in this, lots of Chinese/Korean based games that have been brought west use the same exact font and it just looks really horrible to me (but more importantly, it's harder to read. Maybe I need to lower the resolution that I play at...but I like the pretty graphics as they are :P ).

Sorry, not trying to derail the thread, just frustrates me to see a game with so much promise being squandered. Or maybe I'm just spoiled by all the WoW clones out there that use the same tried and true style interface because it shows everything you need it to without giving you a massive headache.

All that said, I understand it's still in beta and therefor has things that need to be tweaked and are being worked on, but it honestly feels more like it's in an alpha state to me.
